Hi everybody!
I'm looking for a good Dub Delay pedal !! (without forgetting to mention that I have no money for a Roland space echo, of course!)
I already have a PS2 which I love, but it's too digital-sounding... I also have a memory-man, but it's not beautifull with my electronic-stuff (good with an instrument-input but not with a line-input...) and the delay is too short (550 ms, I need MORE!) So, what would be worth considering? Do the DM2/3 have a longer delay time than the memory-man? I've heard that the DD2 don't really sound like a digital delay, and I've also heard that the new DD20 was fantastic for Dub stuff, and there is also the DD5/6.......
Help, I'm lost!! |

One way I've found to fake a decent dub delay is to use two delay pedals together. You just have to time the repeats up so they do a sort of triplet.
That said, I've always had good luck using my Deluxe Memory Man to get a long, smooth, and oscillated delay whether it be from a turntable or guitar. (Try playing with the level and blend knobs.) As the delay repeats, start slowly raising the feedback control.
If you're wanting that Lee Perry style stuff, you should really stick with analog. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a Boss delay pedal that can really pull it off convincingly. The DM-2's delay is too gainy. (At least mine is.)
Also, you can always run a digital delay before an analog delay and just use the digi for repeats and the analog for warmth.
But yeah, all those dudes used analog delays. And most of them were either echoplexes or space echos. |

if you are looking for a nice short delay/slapback type, try the RV-2 or RV-3. personally i find they both sound better than ANY DD's for short delay. |

Thanks for all your views, everybody!!
I'm going to try the digital/analog solution of Indytone, it seems to be a good compromise... my PS2 before the memory-man...let's try! And if it doesn't work, everybody says that the DD20 is really worth the money, especially when you can grab a used one for about 150 euros.. |

| I really like the tape and analog modes on the DD-20: The analog especially, which has a very nice dark/lofi repeats vibe even with very long delays. |
