| I want to get a new pedal but, I'm having a hard time choosing between the TR-2,AW-3 or AC-3. What one do you guys think is the best. I play every kind of music and any of the 3 would fit in my set-up. Thanks. |

i have a tr2 and i think its a great tremolo pedal..as i've got older i've sort of got tired of the flanger, phaser, octavers etc..more exotic type of effects, and more into the older sort i.e tremolo and a little bit of chorus to simulate a leslie type of feel after that a little bit of echo/delay and wah pedal are my only'effects' i also use an od2 and a cs3 but i don't think of them as effects per se,as you can get their effect if you crank an old valve amp up full...but my vote goes for the tr2,if i was jamming and had to grab a few pedals i would grab the wah,tr2 and my dd3 for a bit of slapback echo..... |

I concur. The TR-2 is an excellent tremolo and I'm sure it would get plenty of use.
I'm not a big fan of the AC-3. It's possible to get a decent acoustic tone but it takes a lot of fiddling and I usually grab for my Takamine long before I got the AC-3 settings right.
The AW-3 is a great pedal to play around with as it can make all sorts of wacky and weird sounds. In a band situaton I don't see much use for it though. I much prefer a proper wah and the AW-3 would be used for a special effect here and there only.
The TR-2 however would get much more use. It can't be used everywhere but I use it more than any of the other two. |

i also recommend the TR-2. you might want to look into the C4 mod if the stock version doesnt do it for ya. i havent tried the AC-3 but the AW-3 seems more like a toy than an effect |

I didn't know of the C4 mod, and when I googled it, found out the most recent batch of TR-2s most ppl commented their's don't have a C4. Anyone got a new TR-2? Mines on a 'to-get-list'
Also by cutting R9 in half it controls the volume, but that mod may have been before the C4 mod, but the pic of the pedal pcb doesn't have a C4 either. I have that mod book from Indy. |

i use mine in a loop off an LS2 with two DD3's so i'm able to give the loop a bit of a volume boost with the control on the LS2... i've seen some comments the the c4 mod makes the pedal a bit cold and sterile sounding...to be honest i find it great just the way it is..... i heard a rumour that clapton was seen using it for a while as on his last couple of commercial albums there is a good bit of tremolo on some of the songs...and i saw a picture of peter green's rig in a guitar mag a couple of years ago and he was using one and a (i think)an RV5 or might of been a RV3 ..but both boss...... |

| as simple as the TR-2 is, i find i switch it in and out of my setup all the time - just when I think i'm "tired" of the occassional tremolo effect and pull it out, nary a week goes by and its back in! the AW-3 was horrible for me - AC-3??? just "reach for the Takamine". |

| well as legend has it, TR-2's come with a C4 cap. people say that by cutting this cap out, (unsoldering it is the proper way) it improves the pedal extremely. maybe Boss saw this and started making them without C4. hmmm |
