Most of my pedals are still in their original boxes so they're just piled up on my desk, 10 columns about 8 or 9 pedals in height. That makes it very awkward to use the pedals that accidently make it to the bottom of a column.
Anyone have a better solution? |

| Some type of glass display case like in a jewelery or music store or in a museum so you do not have to worry about dust or knocking them over perhaps. Or an old China cabinet, something like that, might be a good way to store your collection and present them. |

I used to have a little bookshelf I bought just for pedals, where I would make one shelf just overdrive/distortions, and one shelf chorus effects, and one shelf delays etc... this worked for a while, I trashed that bookshelf though when I moved out of an apartment so now the boxes are all on top of another bookshelf stacked, and the pedals themselves are individually wrapped in bubble wrap and divided by larger pieces of bubble wrap into layers in a Giant Rubbermaid/Tupperware kind of bin.
I don't think these are great solutions though. |

I would think that a glass door bookcase is what you're looking for if you want to display them & still have access to them. I'd suggest a gun safe with a bunch of shelves for your collection.

I think that keeping them in the original boxes [that is when you do have them in the first place!!] is a good idea.
For the ones I have no orginal box I just put them in little cardboard boxes, and I tend to put the different types of pedals together as well, so there may be a box with some choruspedals, or distortion- or overdrivepedals.
Because it is almost impossible to use all pedals all the time I tend to use particular pedals for a while, I may give myself a task of what to use and how long to use it for. Certain pedals will be used all the time, like reverbs, but then the type of RV may change from day to day.
Keeping your pedals away from dust may be a good idea as well, and any kind of box with some wrapper plastic may be good enough for this job. |

Here's my current solution.

I wanted to test my ODB-3 yesterday but it was so much work getting it out that I ended up using my HM-3 instead
I don't want any type of display case. They may be pretty to us but anyone else who came into my house would call an ambulance if I had 85 Boss pedals on display. I like the idea of an Ikea solution. I can imagine the catalog page already - The effect pedal cabinet Rksmrgs . |

Look at bossarea trying to impress us with his reading materials. "I'm just perusing my Quantum Mechanics text in my spare time."
So, why do you store all the boxes upside down?
Grace and peace,
Steve
Oh, and Heaven is even better than that. |

The boxes are all upside down because they're open. That way I don't need to take the lid of to get hold of the pedal.
From how the pages are bent you can see how far I've gotten into that book. I think I'm on page 3 That's when my brain melted and came running out through my nose. |

Bossarea, looking at that picture it is great, but I think I would not like to be reminded about those pedals all the time as it makes one feel like: "Gosh did I really spend all that energy in getting that many of those boxes?!"
I can see you point of not being down, and in a way there is nothing wrong with the whole collecting thing, but seeing them all the time.......................
I think by having just a few around you it may feel more like it is still a fresh and new thing. I have to agree it is not easy, and in a way I wish for myself I could store away most of the contents of my house, go into the storagespace and just pick up what I would like to use for that particular day or week.
Selling them would not be an option as you would like to get them again.

| I used to keep my pedals in their boxes, except for the handful I used frequently. then I converted an old bathroom wall cabinet (added 2 shelves to an Ikea-esque thing that was formerly attached to a bathroom wall) to house my Boss pedals, with boxes now stored separately. I did this to increase the convenience factor of having the odd pedal ready to go at a moments notice. it worked, until my collection outgrew the cabinet.... |

when i still had my boss pedals, those that still have their boxes are just placed over an office table. those without boxes are inside bcb6 and bcb3 cases. my largest collection at 1 time was 2 bcb6 and 2 bcb3s with 5 other pedals with boxes. of course....i already sold everything. |
