Just yesterday, my beloved mt 2 stopped working. I think its around 5 years old. When i was playing, i bent down and i was fiddling around with the daisy chain, i accidentally touched one of the un used tips, and everything went silent. all my pedals work except for my mt2 which was last in the chain.
Tu2 -> Ps5 -> Pw2 -> Md2 -> Hm2 -> Mt2
Thats how the chain was on the day, my power adapter can run up to 1100 Ma, so its not that i dont think. Anyways i got some pictures of the pcb. hope it helps.

What did you touch the unused tip onto/into? (I didn't understand what you meant.) Does it still work with a (KNOWN GOOD) Battery?
We need to see clear pics of the component side, although there is a bit of a partial crappy solder joint on the small right hand side pad on the DC in socket.
It sort of sounds like you might have fried the protection diode. Please test it with the battery & let us know. Also test it by itself, not other pedals or leads, other than known good working leads.
I'm not guaranteeing that this is the fault: Take a look at D6 next to C41 right next to the DC input socket on the PCB. You might have to measure it with a multimeter, unless it's visibly fried. look for heat marks on the PCB as well.
Good Luck
Regards Dr. Bob
PS - Test it on another power pack, or plug if your supply has seperate outputs, you didn't mention which supply you were using. |

Okay, I run it off an ams brand (1100 ma) power supply into my tu2, then I run a roland brand daisy chain into all my pedals, I accidently touched one with my finger tip that day.
I can't really get better pictures because I don't want to wreck the pcb, it feels really stiff.
It does not run off a new battery with good leads. Clean signal runs through it with battery or power supply, but as soon as I engage the pedal, the red light comes on and it goes silent.
I've never worked on pedals or know much about pcbs, I don't have a multimeter, but looked at what you told me and it looks fine to me. I couldn't see any fry or heat marks.
This is really annoying, it was my first boss pedal and one of my favourites Thanks for trying to help bob |

Hi hateandwar
PM me Jake. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. No Promises, But I'm willing to take a look at it for you. Simple deal - You pay for postage both ways.
It's difficult trying to keep track of all the Oz members. You're the one that visits the Parkdale CashCon. store?
We'll talk in PM Private Mail.

MT-2 Update Here is a copy of the email I sent hateandwar (Jake) yesterday morning. Pics & story to follow. -------------- Hi Jake
After many hours of extensive surgery in Dr. Bob's Lab. You will be pleased to know that your son is well, & recovering in the company of many of his Boss cousins.
He was a tough little bugger - never said Boo during the whole procedure. He asked me to clean off all the Gig Dust, & flux residue from his original birth at the Roland-Boss factory.
He was unable to sing for too long or too loud, as you can see from the time of this email (2:30am), he just came out of surgery, & the rest of the household was in bed.
All his adjustments work well - We let him sing for a bit, into our little PigNose test amp, with Dr. Bob's Blackie Strat.
He passes on his regards, & says not to worry about him, he is looking forward to get back home, and tell you the whole story.
But for now -- we had to let him rest some more until tomorrow morning.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Hi hateandwar & Guys
As of 10AM this morning, your son is on his way home.
His Boss cousins were very sad to see him go.... They wrapped him up like a bug in a rug, so he would be nice & warm, & they gave him a grommet as a going away gift.

Nice comeback line (very funny)... You can visit Jake's son at his place in the next day or so. He likes to Jam a lot.

My little buddy returned home this afternoon! He is in perfect shape and all his buddy's were super happy to hang out and jam with him! Especially all the metal heads, as soon as he got home they listened to Metallica and they head banged so hard they all got tired and passed out!

But seriously, Dr Bob is the nicest guy ever and completely trustworthy. Cant thank you enough mate! Cheers everyone, Jake. |

Hi hateandwar
I don't know if it's my end, but I have tried 2 different web browsers all I get is the audio - no video.
The video is just the view of the back of the lens cap.
It's nice to know it arrived home safely & well.
