I just picked this Mark I up this week...

Still getting acquainted with it. Lotsa bottom compared to my Victorias, and a wicked overdrive! |

But unfortunatly no channel switching and they're quite expensive too. I wonder how that new Mark V sounds.
Nice one, Silvertone! |

Hi silvertone6120
Nice Mark I - and it looks like it's in as new condition.
I used to gig one of these many years ago. You should be very pleased with it.
Regards Dr. Bob

| Well, not quite new condition...you may be able to see in the photo some tolex is gone along the very bottom edge below the grille. Other than that a few rubs in the tolex here and there, and a few minor snags on the grille cloth, plus the bass knob is a Fender knob. I still haven't really put it through its paces since I've been out of town the last few days, but I plan on getting busy with it the next few days. |

My new baby from evil Bay below.
Ollie was raving about his Shredmaster and although that particular pedal is not my thing I thought I would look into the Marshall offerings in my continuing search for the 2nd best overdrive in the world (the first being the channel switch on a valve amp no question). The Boss ones I have had (pretty much all of them - OD-1, OD-2, SD-1 and current modded OD-3) all have their various strengths but each has a tone of its own which isn't quite what I want. This beast (and it is a beast, not exactly a compact) seems to sound more neutral / natural and of course there are the tone controls which add flexibility. I like it a lot.

Found some good info on the works here...

and here... (actually this one covers all sorts of pedals)

I have a marshall drivemaster too :D but Im pretty sure its a bit dodgy. The knobs are crackly and its in a pretty nasty state. Hell, 15 quid wasnt bad. |

Mine had crackly knobs too when it arived but a bit of contact cleaner sorted them. I think it had lain unused for quite a while and was also very dusty inside so I imagine some of the dust had found its way into the pots which have openings in them.

+1
Contact cleaner can work wonders in seconds with dodgy sounding pots, and iffy footswitches too. |
