| In the Boss book where the developers of the SG-1 are talking about how they came up with the SG-1 they say that they had to use the NF-1 circuit again to make a new effect. Does anyone know of a mod to change an NF-1 into a workable SG-1 clone? |

Well it sure could be easy. All the "parts" used for the SG-1 are in a noise gate. A envelope follower, a variable gain section.
Maybe it would be enough just to change the trigger settings.
But I would rather buy a Guyatone SV-2, it seems to be a perfect clone of the SG-1. |

I discussed this with Steve a while ago. I think he is currently working on this conversion but I'm not sure how it's going. If he's around I'm sure he'll give us a status report.
It's not a straight forward mod. When comparing the two schematics they do look a lot alike but it doesn't take many changes to make the PCBs completely incompatible. The biggest problem with the conversion is probably figuring out the layout of the components and the different jumpers you need. |

| although there may have been some breadboard experimentation based on the learnings in the SG-1, from a manufacturing perspective, once they figured out what they wanted to accomplish, I'd bet the new circuit was redesigned not only achieve maxmimum sound quality but also, build in some manufacturing efficiency. Generally, it would be difficult to use the exact same PCB, BUT, if anyone had both pedals and cracked them open sidexside, would be interesting to see a post here of what they found inside... |

| I think Build Your Own Clone is working on an SG-1clone kit. They recently marketed a VB-2clone kit. The kit may be easier than modding a NF-1 or maybe it will have parts you can use in coverting your NF-1. Personally I don't know cause I've never used any of their products, just stumbled upon them looking up info on treble boosters... |
