Hello Bob,
Thanks for your welcome. Being not the such a big boss fan (as compared to other brands that is ) I never got any further than lurking here. The bossarea page however is a page I've used many times a a reference.
Too bad about the freestompboxes link. I didn't expect that page to be "members only"... check... I'll be d.. it is!
Better sign up then. Freestompboxes is a pretty controversial place but offers a lot of good info and there's a lot of nice people in the end. |

Hi Dirk_Hendrik
The Search function works very well on that site; And it lets you read almost anything it finds.
Is there a specific phrase or word, I/we could search for in the link you posted? eg. dry caps or DD-2 problems???
I searched for delay, & got too many links to go through.
I do Lurk over there a bit, & as you said, they have some controversial stuff & topics happening over there.
Their ready to build clone pages are very good. I will admit they have a good team over there as well.
Can I ask of you were involved with any of the fine projects they have running over there?
Regards Dr. Bob

Hello Bob
(Once signed up) do a search for "votlage" (yes, including the typo ;) ) which will give only one hit which is the correct thread.
For personal designs we're getting offtopic here but let me see.
The real tubescreamer (starved plate 12ax7 with a TS tonecontrol) is my design for the physical shape. The circuit is in the public domain and not mine:
Finished:

PCB Bottom view:

And full design files (multiple page PDF!): http://www.dirk-hendrik.com/temp/rn_tubedrive.pdf
Other than that I did an Shin-Ei FY6 (most $$-wise known as the Shaftesbury duo fuzz) that I did not want to pursue any further since Fuzzes are not my thing. The design is verified though and fits a Hammond 1590B case easily. Design file, again multiple pages:

And a similar project for the preamp-section-only of a Korg SDD3000 delay to be used as a booster : http://www.dirk-hendrik.com/SDD3000_preamp.pdf

Working on the assumption that the percieved low level audio from pin 10 was normal as the same delays are as loud as anything going into the compressor side and that it might be something on the de emphasis/mixer circuit dragging the signal down through the feedback and level controls, I replaced Q7 which was showing some strange voltages (gasp for breath). Weirdly, this has improved the output. Not enough to use it as a delay pedal, though. Nevertheless, there's a definite improvement.
It's a ridiculous theory, but the only one which so far has yielded any results.
At this point I have replaced every single electrolytic with a quality alternative. All the ones I took out were physically immaculate.
It's not even a delay pedal any more, it's a psychological game. |

| My suggestion would be to post the note and the pics (when they come) over on the Tech FAQ forum. It won't be the last one we see like this from the sound of it. |
