Boss or non-boss. In my case it must be a Mutron octave-box in the 70s, cant remeber the model name. Really bad triggering on that one, but today its a sought after pedal. My ended up in the cellar, I throwed it away when I moved to Malm 15 years ago.... |

So, the moral of the story is : don't throw away your pedals! Wait till they become vintage then sell them on e-bay for > $2k. |

| The worst pedal I ever bought? That's a tough one. I don't know that any of mine are that bad, except for my silver screw CS1 and one of my recent finds, an early MIJ GE7. Only because neither one worked when I bought them. I didn't really have a way to test them before buying them, and the price was right, so I couldn't pass them up. They're on the list of pedals that have to go to an authourized Boss service shop. |

I've always stuck to Boss pedals and I think they're all worth the money. |

Mine is the Hughes & Kettner Warp Factor Distortion. While it sounds amazing and is able to give an MT-2 a run for it's money, the electronic side of things break down easily and now it doesn't switch on every time I step on it. I've tried to have it fixed, but the repair guy I let look at it said he couldn't figure it out. If anyone knows where to get the schematic for it please tell me so I can get it fixed. I love this pedal too much to throw it away. Update- I've emailed the company to ask for help repairing my warp factor distortion. I hope that the company is good about standing behind their products, and repairing the defective ones. |

Update on the last update. I just talked to Larry from service with hughes and kettner U.S and they are going to replace my defective warp distortion for me. I'm sending it out today, and hopefully I'l get the new one within a week or so! I'm really happy that they stand behind their products, and don't give ppl a hard time asking questions when their products break down. Time to party! |

Update to the last update of the update before that... I finally got my brand new H&K Warp Factor distortion! I really missed the sound of it, and I don't think I'll be buying another distortion pedal anytime soon. I'm so glad that they stood behind their product and Larry the U.S service guy is really cool, and helpful. I'm having a super good day! Lamma riders mount up! Drinks are on me! |

Worst pedal I ever bought was the Digitech GNX2. At first I kinda liked the presets, it had decent sounds, not great, just decent and a lot of them. It had reverb, chorus, delay, synth, wah, a bunch of distortions and other stuff that you could warp and mod. I didn't have that much fun modding sounds. I ended up getting sick of like 90% of the presets. Then for some reason the wah pedal broke, it just stopped working, then about a year after the wah pedal broke the whole dam thing stopped working . I tried to contact DIGITECH because I had a warranty but they just ignored me . Now it just sitting in my room collecting dust. Before I bought the GNX2 in 2002 I had another Digitech pedal that I traded for a PEAVEY bass amp that I used for guitar (good deal). And before that I had a SD-1 that I returned for a DS-1. When I got my GNX2 I gave my ska strumming friend the ds-1 because I didn't need it anymore. Well after my GNX2 died I went to my friends house and he still had my DS-1, he didn't use the whole time he had it, which was for about 2 years so I said "fuck that", and I took it back.
Worst peddle ever award goes to my GNX2 runner up is the Digitech Distortion factory, because I only really liked 2 of the distortions. I took back the Distortion factory and I got something that I can't remember. All in all digitech sucks and Boss rules!
PS. I do like the GRUNGE pedal and a couple others.

I can fix the GE-7. Who needs an authorized Boss service shop? |

I used to buy broken pedals off of people on purpose. I would pay them $10 for a compact pedal and $15 for something like a wah. I got a vintage MXR Distortion+, beatup as hell, noisy, but sounded great. I made almost $80 selling it and all I had to do was solder one wire or replace the battery clip or something, I don't remember. Someone also sold me a Boss compressor and when I got it in the mail it was working. I wrote the guy an e-mail and offerred it back to him, but he never wrote back so I turned around and sold it on eBay for profit.
I've got a DM-2 that I need to fix. It looks like someone did two things: 1) Shoved a nail or an oversized machine screw/bolt in to the the screw hole on one side of the pedal and it broke off. 2) Tried to rewire it, because the wire placement did not match the schematic.
I lost the schematic though so I guess I've got a problem there. Also the guy didn't have the pedal part, just the case and the circuit. He originally told me that it was a DM-3 and so I ordered a DM-3 pedal and it came in the mail and I noticed it didn't match, that's when I opened it up and saw "DM-2" on the circuit board. Roland didn't have any DM-2 pedals anymore, so I guess that I will have to recreate the printing on it.
Speaking of which, the crappy part was when they would send me an effect pedal and they wouldn't tell me that it was missing a bunch of parts and didn't even bother to tell me. One guy even sent me two circuit boards in the mail, when really what I was after was the cases for my projects. That was a loss of money.
I got a lot of dead DOD pedals in, so I am guessing from the experience of someone who purposefully bought dead pedals that DOD pedals suck. |

The new Grunge pedal is cool sounding, but the guitarist in the last band i was in used it as his main distortion and since he was a drama queen with napoleon syndrome ( you know, super short in stature but has an ego the size of the population of China) also known as LSS (Lead Singer Syndrome) it kind of put me off of the grunge. Actually he used an old DOD version, so I guess the Digitech version is cool to use (he absolutly HATED the Digitech version) Now I need to get one! |

| Worst, most unusable pedal I've ever bought? Boss AC-2. Man I wanted to like this pedal, but it didn't work with humbuckers, was noisy, and there was a big volume drop every time that I kicked it on, making it usless for live playing. Some crazy sounds though feeding that through a distortion pedal . . . |

| Without a doubt, the Line 6 Tap Tremolo. Line 6 uses the worst capacitors, etc... in their pedals and then charges a mint for them. This pedal was a mess. It was noisey, the LED clicked, and it wasn't very reliable on the tap trem function. I exchanged it at first because I thought it was defective (hiss and clicking), but realized it was just the fact that it was a piece of garbage. |

My Electro Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress. Unreliable poor quality construction -- but I absolutely love the flanging it produces when it's working correctly.
C.K. (wishes he could have been hiding in the garbage can that Goran tossed that Mutron Octaver into )
