Hi all, was hoping that someone could help me make the most out of my CE-5. Has anyone here modded there's? If so, what did you do? I like the chorus, but I suspect it could be even nicer.
Thanks Rick |

I'm not sure myself, but I know that it will depend greatly on whether your CE-5 is analogue (usually pre~2001, someone knows the serial numbers surrounding the change) or digital.
At any rate, if you open it up and see a honkin' digital chip, then you'll know for sure. Look in the Internal Pictures thread for some examples.
Good luck! |

Well, by looking at the inside is going to be the only way I will be able to tell. I bought it off ebay, the add said it was supposed to be new or at least he thought it was. But, when i got it, there was no sticker on the bottom.
I didn't complain, I only paid $55.00 for it and it works perfectly. I only hope it wasn't stolen and sold. Guy said he got it from a guitar store on trade. Possible I suppose.
SO I just opened it up. I don't see any 'big' honkin' digital chip. It was made in Taiwan, I know. |

I have never seen a mod for the CE-5...
Does yours look like this? If so it is analogue - and you scored!

The analogue version "core" is pretty close to the CE-2 == you score |

Sweet!
Are there any pictures of the newer version of this pedal so that I can be sure? |

Probably on the internals thread. The key is if you see the 8 pin chips marked 3007 and 3101 - then it is definitively analogue. |

| Ok, when I get home tonight, I'll take it back apart and look closer. |

Hi RickBlacker
Simple answer is no.
Only Laurie's Analog version CE-5 on page 6, of the internals thread.
If anyone has the more modern digital version, we would appreciate a few internal pics for comparison.

Ah... well never mind ;-)
The digital ones sound sweet too. No mods for them that I've seen though. |

I think one should ask himself what he wants to mod in the first place, what part of the pedal or sound thereof doesn't he like?
Before randomly swapping out components as said so in a so-called "amazing" mod found somewhere on the net. It may not be great for you at all, maybe you'll be much happier with some different settings or a different pedal altogether.
I modded some of my pedals, with varying results, there's some stuff I like, and some stuff I really liked better original. There's also mods that I modded afterward to make 'em work for me.
What sound do you want to achieve from your CE-5? Maybe it's a good bet to score an old CE-2 on eBay? |

To be honest, I don't know what I'm looking for out of it. I just want to tinker with it. Experiment. |
