Happy New Year, everybody.

I wanted to let you know about a great DS-1 mod I tried recently. It's Brian Wampler's "Vintage" mod at IndyGuitarist.com. Vintage what, I don't know, but I do know I like the sound of this pedal. Unlike many mods for the DS-1, this one pushes the mids up, which really helps to cure the DS-1's inherent fizziness. I'm not sure, but I think it tames the goin a bit - I know I'm running the distortion control all the way up most of the time. There's a "tons of gain" option I haven't installed yet, but I may try to get some more dirt out of it.

I like the pedal enough that it's going to be my #2 dirt box behind my soon-to-be-completed Eternity clone. The DS-1 is going to handle specail distortion duties like wierd effects, extreme dirt at low volumes, whateve else I need. The Eternity will be dedicated to "moderate gain with whompin' volume boost", mostly for solos.

Anyway, if you're looking for a good DS-1 mod, I highly recommend the Vintage. It's fairly simple (part count around half a dozen) and it really fixes a DS-1 right up.

You can find a sound clip for it here:http://www.indyguitarist.com/soundclips/

I wish they would not use reverb. Its not the real sound to the pedal it makes the pedal sound fatter then it actually is

I have a DS-1 with Monte Allums Tri Gain ROXX, and it is the best mod I ever heard from a DS-1.
Stinkfoots mod of DS-1 is also a very, very good one, he turns it into a very sweet overdrive.
