I disagree that the line 6 reverb sucks...i use my reverb a bit different to most here as mine is in a semi wet/dry/wet/setup with the Podxtpro providing the reverb in a stereo setup either side of my main amp in mono..i find reverb in the main amp to be a bit overwhelming on my tone so i run the main amp dry and the reverb and some other effects(leslie, stereo and ping pong delays) through a stereo power amp and two small 1 x 12 cabs...i've found the line 6 effects to be pretty decent and the reverb quality to be as good as most mid range stuff i've tried...never tried any of the high end lexicon stuff but the digitech RV-7 pedal is supposed to be ok and uses stuff licenced by lexicon to create the reverb.... |

i'll throw the marshall reflector in at this point. well priced, and capable of some really really cool reverb sounds. |

I like FRV-1 a lot, but I like the versality of RV-5 too. If I had to choose I would go for RV-1. |

I didn't like it! Everything sounded muffled and mellow. I love my RV-5! |

For live use
A 16 inch Acutrionics twin spring tank fitted to a Fender tube amp. With the reverb tank dive & recovery driven by tubes.
Or on a Marshall an Accutronics 8 inch three spring tank, With the reverb tank dive & recovery driven by tubes.
For studio use - Mechanical (real Plate) reverb. or a Lexicon Digital Plate. Sometimes mixed in with about 5% to 10% Accutronics reverb from the amp.
Or record totally dry, & add the reverb post.
Just my 2 cents.

If thats right whats wrong with that? Is there some signal loss? I actually thought both pedals sounded pretty great as far as verb go :)
Heya...
well I guess it's just an esoteric reason.... but my logic is this.... why having an expensive point to point wired tube amp that's all analog and a few pedals that may not be point to point handwired but are at least hi quality why converting something back and forth from analog to digital and to analog again somewhere in between.
I'm totally fine with the reverb tail being digital since digital has come a long way and can do REALLY nice verbs... but I'd like my dry signal to stay analog.
I know it's no real logic but it's something I think is important (if it makes sense doesn't really matter)
cheers, mully |

Boss RV-3
My tube amp doesent have reverb, but I've been using this pedal for longer than I've had my tube amp because I've never liked the amp reverb I've come across on my previous amps.
I have it on constantly, on mode 11 on mild settings. If you push the tone controls past 12 o'clock it sounds cheesy.
I've recomended this pedal a lot around here, and unfortunatley prices for an RV-3 have gone nuts now.
I am however quite interested in a Boss FRV-1... |
