heya guys! Just have a question about this BF-2 I picked up yesterday! I've been prowling for a decent one for a while now and last night when i walked into my local music shop, they had a used one for $50.
Sweet, so i picked her up, orange label??? Never seen that before. So without even thinking twice I bought it and rushed home. It sounds absolutely wonderful!! I really enjoy its tone so far! So I figured I better date this thing on the decoder, that's when the weirdness starts...

So first off looking at this strange orange label, I notice 2 screws missing from the plate. Oh great someones messed with it I figured, so I break it open and I can't really see any evidence of modding or repairs. But what do you guys think? Maybe some of the wire solders at 13 - 18 have a bit of a flux mess? It all really appears to be stock...

Sorry the second pic is a bit blurry.
So anyways, I go on to try and date it. NO serial number on the orange label?? Ok I go inside the battery compartment, and I find everything seems normal EXCEPT for a handwritten "OK" in red crayon or marker pen?? I also noticed the same red crayon mark on the inside of the pedal too. On the right side of the pic.

So has anyone else ever seen this?? And where is my serial number?? LOL Like I said, I love its sound so there isn't anything wrong with it so to say, just a bit weird!
Thanks Guys!! |

If you check the bossarea info pages it does say that the BF-2 did have a few different labels, orange being one of them. It's a later MIT pedal (made between 1994 and 1997). MIJ models have the rare type-III knobs (black top with a red line) that are only found elsewhere on the VB-2 and early CE-3s.
I don't think I've actually seen an orange label before - maybe it's rare?, but I also have never owned a BF-2 (or a CE-2B, the only other pedal to have had an orange label).
In either case it look like it's in excellent condition and I'm glad you're happy with the sound of your new pedal - because that's all that really matters |

That's definitely an MIT (black snap) with an MIT back plate. The MIJs had either black or green labels. All the orange ones are MIT. |

Ahhh cool, so nothing is abnormal with it. It was made between 1994 - 1997 and the serial number was just a sticker that probably has worn off somewhere along the way! It's the perfect age mate for my MT-2 I bought when I was 14 back in '94
Thank You!
cheers guys! |
