I'm curious if anyone else has an ME-50 and what theor opinion of it is. I think the distortion section is its strongest feature, but overall I think it's a solid product. The tremolo is its weakest effect, but most everything else is useable at least. The vibrato can be set to sound just like the old CE-1's vibrato and the Univibe and Leslie simulator are good. I don't have a real Uni to compare to, but I like it anyway. :-)

Certainly a lot of bang for the buck. What do you think?

Grace and peace,

Steve

hi
i have the me-50 myself , i want to say that for the price is not a bad item, also the distortions are good. also it has a square dist emulator which is cosm , i have to admit is not like the gt-8 which is way better but the unit itself rocks, also for what it is the mods aren't bad at all, they should it made it with the bank up and down like previous ones, but then again it's worth the price also the should it made it with a better and wider wah pedal overall is all good

I think they are great in a looping setup. Easy to operate and program in real time, very versatile and cab be daisy-chained with all your other 9V pedals. The delay section also has some tricks that the DD-20 doesn't.

Yeah, I picked one up when someone was selling them off cheap locally. I've gigged it a couple of times but only as a row of stomp boxes. I've been trying to get some patches together but I'm having the usual problem of getting the volumes to balance at gig levels. The distortions are great, some of the modulation effects are a little weak. I don't like the Leslie sim at all (I have a Korg G4 on one of my boards, so I'm spoilt).

The delay section is excellent, a good variety of mono and stereo delays that are certainly better than a DD-3, and mostly better than a DD-6 (apart from the fact that the longest delay is "only" 2 seconds - not quite enough for looping). The modulations are pretty good, the chorus and pan in stereo effects are excellent, and the distortions are good. The compressor is not very good though, and the guitar-tone modeling section is entirely superfluous. Still, I like it a lot, I'm not sure if I'd ever want to sell it, I have no plans to buy a "better" multi-effects pedal, other than the Carl Martin Quattro, which is an altogether different animal. Oh, and the rotary and vibe settings are very nice.

No, but I'd like to be using the ME-50 for its quick, simplicity, broad spectrum of effects, & lack of confusing menu systems so prevalent on other units. I tried to get my son to go the ME-50 route but alas, he's soon to have 8 compacts.

As a Bassist
I have both boards as well as a GT6-B. Love using the 50B on batteries. They last me for a solid 3 weeks. Set up is so fast and noise free. The 6B is a more comfortable pedal for shows where you might need a patch per song, but if you have "your sound" on 3 Banks, the 50B is the business. I'm going to try linking the ME50 & 50B together one of these days to see what I can come up with. Watch this space. I don't like using the optional bank up/down pedals as I can never remember what's on what bank. This is where the GT6-B & GT8 comes into their own, and you still have the option of manual mode. Not forgetting the GT10's of course.
