There has been some controversy over this guitar as to if it's really 0001.....Gilmours guitar tech Phil Taylor bought it off Seymour Duncan i think in the mid 70's..the story is SD later claimed to have put it together from parts he had lying around his workshop back when he was working on his own as a repairer and starting out doing pickup rewinds....Phil Taylor disputes this version of events so who knows....
I'm glad he owns that guitar as he does a strat the justice it deserves - there aren't many better exponents of that sound imho
btw did you notice the two boss compacts on stage to the left of Dave? (the best view is at about 1:20) - not sure what they are. I don't think he's the one using them though.

They belong to Joe Walsh...... i think it's his OS-2 and a DD-3....he normally uses a much bigger all boss pedalboard for The Eagles stuff.....
from what I understand the guitar was numbered 001 because it came from a custom line that was produced for the employees at Fender...they're almost positive it came from a former employee
Interesting to see Dave Gilmour apply pretty much all of his vibrato using the strat vibrato in the marooned video, I'm going to have to study it to learn from the master!
