Hi after buying a Boss DS-2 pedal, I was told that I could buy a BOSS FS-5L for footswitching between mode 1 and mode 2. I was just wondering if the BOSS AB-2 does the same job as the FS-5L??

The reason for this is that the AB-2 has an input jack and 2 output jacks. Pressing the switch will just connect the input jack to th eother output jack. The FS-5L has only one input jack and when the switch is pressed the connectors on the jack are shorted.

Hi thanx for the info, if this is the case why does everyone say that the AB-2 is the replacement and successor of the FS series?

AB2 is a splitter, one input to two outputs or two inputs to one output. Nothing at all like a latch or onff switch.

ususally used to select one of two guitars to input into your rig, that simple.
