I've been looking at boss drum machines and similar on ebay because I've been thinking of getting a nice old drum machine for some lo-fi sounds. For certain models the prices are pretty low (basically anything that's not considered a "classic" ) often going in the region of 20-30. Additionally, a lot of these claim to come with original power supplies. Now, a boss power supply costs 20+ anyway! My question is this: Does anyone have a boss power supply that's about 20 years old, and is it still working fine? Obviously there is the aca-psa transition, but I don't mind that - I'm always short of power supplies with a Boss recorder, effects, multi-effects and not enough spare short power leads from my big john to go around! I wouldn't mind taking a punt on a drum machine if the power supply I would buy anyway is good as well! |

| FWIW, I've had an ACA adapter since 1986 and one of my PSAs since about 1990...no problems out of either one, and they both saw quite a few stages in their lifetimes. |

| The only problem I ever had with boss power supplies is the cord going open. Copper breaks in half right at the end of the rubber grommet. It's a fairly easy fix, cut back on the cord and re-solder. The hard part is getting the unit open. |

The oldest Boss AC adapter that I have is a PSA-120 that was bought when I bought my DD-2, I forgot if it was 1985 or 1986. Both are still working fine.
I have bought quite a few varieties of Boss ACA/PSA adapters over the years. They are used mostly in studio enviroment and so far none has failed. |

| Thanks for the responses guys, perhaps It will be worth a go! I had a cheaper power supply that broke within about a year so I'm not really willing to risk getting something rubbish, even if I could do with quite a few! |

| I think (some? all?) ACAs have a year/week date code, so mine are both from 1986. I got them with some pedals a couple years ago, so I can't be sure how much use they've seen. |
