For the more experienced modders:
I'm looking for a way to lower the amount of gain on an MT2 when the "DIST" knob is turned down. I'd like to get it to clean up a bit more, without using the volume knob on the guitar. I have the schematic if anyone thinks they can help.
Thanks. |

| I think that when Stinkfoot shows up again he'll know what to tell you. |

Try increasing the value of R46 (2.2K) to 4.7K or so. That will reduce the mid boost before the distortion stage, reducing the gain and making the pedal less nasal. Replacing D3 and D4 with LED's (or just one of them) would clean up the pedal considerably while increasing the available output by the same amount, but that might be too drastic.

| Does it makes the MT-2 distortion smoother? |

| It doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. I tried a larger value resistor (can't remember the value right now) and it cleaned up a lot more, but had a weird intermittent clicking sound when playing. Maybe it's not possible with this pedal. |

| Anyone else with any ideas on how to reduce the gain on the MT-2? I got one recently in an auction with some other pedals, but it has WAY too much gain for what I play . . . |

r46 - 4.7k r044 - 100k r041 - 470 ohm r026 - 47k
If you want the gain knob to clean up better, yet still have available gain at the max.
For chuggy chuggy stuff, I'd do the standard mt-2 mod that everyone seems to have copied (except for keeley)...

remove c35 and c25 replace c34 with a .047uf.
enjoy! :) bw

I would like to try this mods out w/ my MT-2... However I don't have any 1/8 watt resistors instead I have bunch of 1/4 watts carbon resistors. My question is... Would it work if I use the 1/4 watt resistor to replace the stock 1/8 watt resistor? Would it have some negative effect on the circuit? or will it work just fine?
Thanks,
Chad |
