Hi all

my dunlop wah got a smack the same time as the LS-2 that i had to repair due to being crushed by one of the tops off the P.A.system.... it looks like delayed reaction with the wah...basically there is only a very faint signal going through it,i cleaned the switch with servsol switch cleaner before, but this time i think it's knackered....plus the track on the wah pot is on the way out too due to useage... any suggestions for replacements..i.e go with original dunlop parts or is there any interesting alternatives for the pot out there..?..i think Teese used to do retro fit parts but i'm not sure if he still does..... any suggestions welcome as always.....

Hi FRANZONI

Look at the PCB, both side, the "BIG CRASH", might have dislodged the Inductor on the PCB. It's the biggest part, & Can be prone to mechanical failure of the solder joints.

What is the Value of the Pot in your Cry Baby?
And is it a sealed, HotPotz 1 (really large metal pot about 27.5mm dia. Clarostat)
Or the smaller plastic sealed black & grey HotPotz II about 18-20mm dia.?

Post a pic here on the forum or PM me a pic.

Also check that all the poles on the Bypass switch are working, I have had a few that are open circuit on one side/pole.

Regards Dr. Bob

I'm actully drinking all the octoberfest beer on special in ALDI at the moment.... but i ran out and i had some beer from el salvador....bad move.... been on the throne all day.....

the wah had a push on connector that connects a lot of the wires to the circuit board it must of come off, every thing else looks ok on a visual inspection so hopefully this is all it is....it worked on the gig after the board got trashed so i'm thinking that one of my bandmates might have been a bit heavy handed throwing the board in and out of the van as when i opened the lid recently before a gig all the pedals where rolling around inside........i can't plug an amp in to try it out tonight so i will try it in the morning and let you all know....maybe Dr Bob's 'cycle chain' links for screwing the pedals down is the way to go....

Now, if I didn't know Dr. Bob so well, I'd be a little worried about his "cycle chains"...

As is is, I am mildly curious?

Hi FRANZONI

Glad to hear the Wah was such a simple fix.
Sorry to hear about your Mexican (el salvador.) moment of weakness.

Strange coincidence, I've had a fluttery tummy as well.
Not to mention I'm just about to rebuild my 1970's original Italian JEN Crybaby.
I managed to get an Icar equivalent pot.

It's been out of action & in long term storage, since the mid-late 70's
So minty & fresh.
The pot shagged out only a year or so into it's gigging life.
Now say slowly Hmmmm RED FASEL (inductor)....

Regards Dr. Bob
