hi guys,

I believe I am purchasing a 7-string guitar for $75 later today from some person who accidently bought it instead of a 6-string. It's a Squier, but it's gotten great reviews, and for $75 (or maybe I can get them down even less) it's a great deal.

Just wondering if any of you play 7-Strings? and any tips you might have for me. I figure since it's a Squier I'll definently be swapping out pickups probably for Invader-7s.

I don't necessarily play metal, but wouldn't mind having a really high-gain guitar. Although the Invaders might be too much that I couldn't play jazz on it if I wanted too. Anyway I didn't mean to sidetrack that with pickup talk, but yeah 7-Strings, whose got'em?

$75? Now, that's a deal.

You might want to check out www.sevenstring.org.

7s rule!

oh cool, sorry I must have missed that topic I'm only on the board every so often nowdays, I guess I'll have to start searching before I post

And yeah I sure think it's a deal so I'm gonna go pick it up. Had to argue about this with the girlfriend yesterday which is why it didn't happen sooner.

i'm a 7 stringer myself, there's no mysticism behind a 7 string guitar just remember to follow the key your playing in and the progressions, actually in my band which is a kind of melodic black metal instead of using some chords or triads as we used to do in a normal 6 string guitar you can actually go with the same chord or triad but in a lower tone(assuming that you play an extreme genre)now if you do solos just follow the scale and pattern remember it's just a lower b-string there's no mystery behind it but congrat you are a 7 stringer from now on welcome

Set up the 7 in Mehsuggah tuning.. drop the low string to F..

$75 is good for the Squier 7-string. use the money you saved to buy some kind of hotter pickup maybe.
