OK, this is a video I made with my Telecaster Classic '60s and a well know play back.
I'm a bass player and I play Telecaster since march 2008 (about 6 or 7 months), and I need good guitarists to tell me
- what's OK - what's wrong

don't hesitate, thanks a lot ! |

Is that kulten jr lurking around at your feet..... ...well done your on the right track,at 1.12 and again at around 1.57 you add some dynamics and finger vibrato to your playing which sounds great because it creates a little bit of excitement...try to listen to some early blues or jazz like BB King or Django to see what i mean as both these players along with Clapton are great exponents of this.... also don't be afaid to play a little outside the pentatonic blues scales..a good way i have found to open up the neck is learn a chord in all the positions up and down the neck of the guitar if you listen to hendrix you can hear him really digging in don't go for speed but for quality, the speed will come in time with practice..... your doing really good, keep it going.. .if you looking for a more Hendrixy sound try lowering the level of the distortion a little and pushing the volume........especially with the neck pickup... |

| i mean for not knowing how long you have played bass is kinda tough. i mean if you have been plying for 20 years ouch you need improvement. but bass for a year or two then about 6 months on guitar you are doing fine. your bends are out of tune. you are really not hitting them sounds like you are more doing a 1/4 or 3/8 of a bend instead of a 1/2. a good way to learn is ears the best. but use a chromatic tuner and bend till you hit a 1/2 or whole bend.I mean from lack of experience you are on the right track, i see some real good stuff in your playing for such a short amount of time. you are kinda sloppy right now but speed kills go for quality speed come with time |

I agree with Zerks, I think for 6 months you are coming along real nice chording is by far you strong point your bends just aren't up to pitch. And like Franz said don't go for speed some times 1 note bent slowly to pitch with a sweet vibrato can stop your heart. Try playing the track back and just bend the flat 5's up to pitch till you hear it and can reproduce it It's always better to have few notes played well than a flurry that sounds disjointed. But hey when I started in 1985 I was a lefty playing a right hand guitar and there was no YouTube for help, I couldn't even tune it at 6mos |

thanks all.
I know what's wrong with the bends : after 18 years on my bass, my left hand think "hey, it's a 65 or 80 gauge" ?... and it's not...
I'll play slower, I need training for leads.
at least I'm not lost before the 12th and with the E A D G strings, I think I can play in a rock/punk band as a rythm guitarist with power chords, but that's all for the moment (it could be a good point : playing in a band would boost...).
I'll post another video in a few weeks just to compare.
notice that when I started bass, I was 17 y.o. (I'm 35) and after school I had time to play, and played also 8 to 10 hours on week-end. I joined a band 3 months after my first note on a bass guitar, and played at home with various records. But now, I have job and kids, and I play Telecaster less than 1 hour/day... it will be long to be on the top.
I had an idea I will try : tune the Telecaster E A D G C F. |

Nice overdrive/distortion sound. What pedal did you use?

Hi Kulten
At least you have the Kahuna's to put it out there, & on a regular basis.
I like the overdrive tone you're getting with the TM-7 cranked. Try butting a booster in front of it as well.
I've always loves the Rhythm guitar part on this song. Keep up all the practice.

| it's kinda sloppy, but your inexperience is showing, but you are learning tough stuff. keep it up you are doing fine.you are playing stuff alot harder then students i have had that were playing as long as you.so just try to push yourself into harder material all the time.give it another year of what you are doing and you should be darn good. |
