| If you use a equalizer pedal what should your amp settngs for low, mid, high be set to? Should they all be set to 5 or 10? Since you can adjust it all with the pedal and not have to adjust both? |

Welcome to the forum..some people use a EQ pedal like a GE7 as a mid booster in a reverse 'V' shape mostly if not always with valve amps,i suppose your normal amp settings would remain the same and set the EQ for whatever effect is desired..ie a mid boost or a scooped 'V' shape after a distortion or overdrive,i personally don't used EQ pedals with my electric guitar anymore..i just set the amp and forget about it...i use my GE7 as a preamp for my acoustic guitar and mandolin.... |

I would set your amp to get the best possible tone as is, then use the GE-7 to adjust/boost/cut as needed. Some guys like to put the GE-7 in the loop but I like it out front.
The GE-7 is a great pedal. I have been using it off and on for 22 years. It can do a convincing tube screamer/overdrive effect if set correctly among many other things. |

| I tend to set my onboard EQ controls at 12'oclock and dial in the EQ pedal to suit on my Vox AD50VT Valvetronix amp which I run thru the FX loop. Before I changed the stock 70/80 speaker I use to cut the bass slightly and trim the treble but now I can run it fairly flat or with mids raised slightly for best results. |

Nibbels suggestion is excellent,
I tend to set my amp neutral, that is all eq on the amp is flat: Not boosting or cutting, and then I work with the EQ.
My experience is that EQ is great for so-so amps, it really can make them shine. If you already have a killeramp, maybe better to leave the amp just on it own. Nothing plugged into your amp still rules, no matter how much I love pedals. |

I use a GE-7b in the loop of my Ampeg preamp to boost the highmids a little, to get some more presence to the sound.
I never turn it off. |
