| I think Analogman or MohoMods has some type of Marshall modding kit for DS-1s, and the Keeley modded DS-1 is at times referred to as "the best Marshall tone in a box". So I think that is what the seller was referring to, I am wondering, and I think the dog is wondering too, what the mod on the back plate is. It may be a mod to change diodes or something internally without having to remove the entire back plate, but I have not seen anything like that before. That or maybe whoever had the pedal got tired of having to unscrew 3 screws to change the battery (see the Compact Pedals forum if you don't know what I am referring to). |

I'm just completely stumped by what's going on with that bottom plate only going by the photo and not seeing it first-hand -- is that the bottom plate from, say, a Maxon/Ibanez pedal? And what's the point of a bottom battery door when that isn't where the battery is? At best you're opening it up to take a look at the solder side of a PC board -- and what for?
And it's a MIT DS-1, so no one here stole the MIJ plate for another MIJ pedal.
How is the bottom plate even being held securely, when two of the screw mounting holes are partially covered by the battery door?
I'd have to see this in person...

The back IS a Maxon/Ibanez.
The back plate could have been changed because it was missing, why not. But the box (in the back pics) is not a Boss, we can see the holes in the corners, on the batterie side. Plus the usual stripes in the batteir compartiment.
Two Ibanez pedals (mine, I garantee they are Ibanez) :

This "DS-1" :

Same holes and stripes under the batterie plate.
Another thing : thoses plates can't adapt on a Boss. They have bent parts, under the batterie plate. It sure would be a slaugthery to try such an adaptation...
Why put another pedal's back picture on the auction ? |

That's what was throwing me here -- the casting of the pedal case didn't look right to me in the bottom photo. The recession in the casting is not as close to the outside of the case on the "bottom" side in the photo (between the two screws on the battery door side), so a rectangular Boss bottom plate won't fit.
It never occurred to me (until just now) that photos of two different pedals might have gotten mixed up -- was it accidentally or on purpose? He doesn't have any other auctions going besides this one at the moment.

I asked him, just to see what he would have to tell about this.
He does "not see what's wrong".
Well... |
