So I am getting a power supply for my first home built board, and I have been looking at Dunlop brick and Voodoo lab 2. So I know that the brick doesn't have isolated power at each out, so I thought I would shoot out the pedals I am using...

Digitech jamman
ML-2
MT-2
DD-7
little big muff
JH-1 thomas wah pedal

Leaning towards Brick b/c of price, and it seems to have better reviews, but I hear problems arise when too many pedals are added... Anyone have experience with this?

I am hoping to eliminate some dirty power noise with this(along with convenience), so if anyone has had problems with noise, I would like to hear the story...

As always,

Thanks everyone!!

I've just changed the power supply on my board.

I went with a Diago Powerstation.

It's got plenty of power and is pretty much noise free.

They also provide info on all the main alternative power supplys, like the Dunlop Brick, with pros and cons for each... anyway you can find the info here.

Between the Dunlop Brick and the PP2 I'd go with the PP2, like zerksies said, i've never heard a bad thing about it and it pretty much seems like the best that money can buy, maybe apart from the Burkey Flatliner which is quite a bit more expensive

I also use the Diago Powerstation that Paul mentioned which is really good, quite and not too expensive. There's a compatibilty chart on their website so you can check which pedals can be powered by it.

You should check out the BBE Supa Charger, looks good and is pretty much the same as the Voodoo Labs PP2 and is cheaper.

A bit OT, I'll just say that I bought a Harley Benton PS from Thomann because I couldn't afford the Dunlop Powerbrick and it's very good, no noise at all. The only downside is that it's bigger.

I use the Boss adapter to power 7 of my boss pedals,TU-12 and my Crybaby..my twin tube because it's a real tube overdrive has it's own adapter...i've never had a problem with the boss adapters but i did have issues with other brands, the worst was a zoom adapter even though the rating was the same..my DD-3 refused to work even with the led on and though other some other boss pedals worked fine,it brought a very strange howling feedback from my OD-2 and my DS-1 at the time when turned up to gigging levels....i make sure that i'm under the 200ma rating and never noticed any noise with the Boss...i cut the lead to a 2 way plugboard and put a kettle lead socket on it and mounted it on the board so when i go to gigs i just have to plug in a kettle lead,it saves the two adapters from getting moved around all the time and the kettle lead socket is mounted and screwed to the edge of the pedalboard like the power socket on the back of an amp so it's very robust as i gig and rehease a lot....

erm.. the Jamman takes 9vAC, not DC, I thought. Is there a supply which will provide both?

I believe the voodoo labs 2 has 1 AC outlet, no? I think that seals the deal on the pp2!

Has 1 AC outlet, 8 DC (with voltages ranging at 4-9V), and from what I understand... 18V can be powered with a "wired in series" cable from 2 of the 9V outs because they are isolated...?

If I am not correct, PLEASE correct me

Thanks everyone

I THINK you are correct on all counts... can't guarantee it, but from what I have come to know about the VooDoo that is, in fact, the scoop.

The AC outlet on the PP2+ is AC mains voltage (wired in parallel to the mains input). Essentially, it's the same as using a mains power strip, as you'd still need to use the adapter for the Jamman.

The Burkey Flatliner Pro has an 9 or 12vAC output that might work for the Jamman, as does the T-Rex Fueltank Classic (12 volts AC). But the T-Rex is limited to 500mA, and I don't know if the Jamman uses more than that.

Hey Andreas!

I need 1300mA with a 9VAC out...

I have some rack gear (TC electronic chorus/flanger) I want on my pedal board too!

I was thinking the PP2 and hook a power strip through the AC outlet and then hook the digitech jamman and TC to the power strip...? I am going to design this board to hide the strip, so that shouldn't be a problem. This should work to power everything...no?

P.S... You aren't the famous "DIY" and "true bypass" Andreas are you?

Read some great stuff on the web by you my man

Yeah thats him, in my eyes anyway. Yeah the Burkey products are great i'm thinking of getting the Burkey SIX next to my homemade isolated power supply. as it can supply 100mA of any volate 9/12/15/18. sounds like what i need.

I love my Voodoo lab! A slim profile and they are a GREAT company to deal with. I needed a special cable and they sent it to me quickly and for NO CHARGE! I was amazed.
