| I got a Fender ampcan with a guitar I bought some time ago. The guy told me that it worked but the battery was ruined because he overcharged it too many times by forgetting about it being on charge and letting it charge for weeks on end. He tossed it in with the guitar and I basicly got it for free. The music store wanted over 90 bucks for a replacement battery so I took it to a battery place and got one for 40. The battery guy said that it was a common battery used in backup power supplies. I bought a timer so that I don't cook the new battery. This AmpCan is as handy as pockets in your underwear. It has 2 inputs with seperate controls one for guitar and one for mic. With a full charge you can play 10 hours all weekend camping basically. It is way more usefull than a small practice amp and not too much more to buy around 200 new. Distortion sucks. Any mods? any opinions? |

| The shitty distortion is not an issue if you have pedals anyway. If you buy one used be sure it has the charger included I had quite a wait for mine from Fender. |

i had a pignose when i lived in holland for a while...it was small and compact for rehearsing at home..but it could still get the neighbours knocking on the wall..!!..it only had a volume control so the sound was a bit limited..it could run off batteries or a adapter ..i gave it to a another guitar player when i was leaving..... |

Hi FRANZONI
Was it the 7-100? I have one of those, nice little amp, these days it sits on my test bench, as the test amp. I know what you mean about the neighbors, it can get loud.
I have been ringing around looking for the New Reissue - Fender Champ 600, 5 Watt tube amp. Goran has be telling me all about his, & I've listened to a bunch of YouTube demo's.

sorry doc....it's over 15 years since i had that amp....all i can remember it was a small rectangular box with a sort of brown leatherette covering the on/off/volume was a silver pigshead below the speaker and the input was on the front below the volume(i think) the amp opened up in half on a pair of hinges to allow access inside for the batteries(i think it took six AA ones)and it has a adapter input for mains power on the back and a little 6 inch..?? speaker..might of been even smaller i can't remember...for a little amp it was fairly loud....!! especially in our little apartment..... i gave it to a fellow guitarist from ireland who was living locally when i was leaving 'cause he had lent me a acoustic guitar and a mandolin while i was there.... |

| I wish I had a sound clip. The Amp can has a real nice clean sound, you would't think I was battery powered. I'll check the Fender site. |

Hi FRANZONI That's the one , your memory is still on the sane side, of dementia....
Getting any quality sleep, with the new little Franzoni.

I didn't particularly care for the AmpCan. It sounded (badly) distorted no matter if the gain switch was set or not.. not much difference. It was like trying to use larger version of a tranisitor radio speaker with a bit more power behind it. Sure it had more bite, but it just wasn't a cleanly amplified signal IMFO. Supposedly, it has a gel battery which is nice & I do like the form factor.
The Roland Cube amps sound a bit better & I dunno about today's PigNose, but I think I first ran across them in the 80s & they seemed alright. Of course my ears are much more critical nowadays. |

| I read on harmony central that fender had a mod for the distortion If anyone know about this mod please let me know. But like I said a good pedal makes the dist. less of an issue, and the clean channel sound is unmistakably Fender. The 6 inch speaker has a huge magnet. |
