i notice that in another thread theres lots of pics of all those lovely pedals you all own, but where do you get your pedal boards from? do you make them or what? just interested to see how you all approach the art of keeping your pedals ready to go and tidy? |

some people make them and some buy them.
Me, I've made a couple before but at the moment I use a boss BCB-60 and BCB-30 at times. Easy to transport.
If I'm playing at home I don't really bother with a board. I just line up what I want to play with and go from there.

Yeah, I use the floor too. Found the BCB60 to cause lateral thinking when setting up pedals. Like the BCB3 for its compactability. |

i made this out of some ply,old carpet tiles, glue, screws and a few locks and a handle..cost all in about 90 euro including the paint and connecting leads.....and of course the time put in about 4/5 hours start to finish....i drew the layout on a piece of paper first as a 'blueprint'.... |

i made mine a couple months ago.. i have 3 rows of pedals so i made it 3 tiers... the back one being the highest of course. i made it out of plywood.
ive been reading horror stories about peoples basements flooding. i already have my guitars hung on the wall now but ive been thinking of building a base for my pedal board that will hold it about 3 feet off the floor. that way i can be standing and tweak the pedals with my hands and not have to bend over.
maybe ill keep the wah on the floor though |

I use one for short repeats for general delay sounds on a solo etc,the other one i use for a lnger echo or for a multi tap sound like gilmour or the edge etc....the two on together give a sort of stereo effect with the echo...we do some police, floyd and U2 stuff in our set so sometimes it's easier to set the echo between numbers on one of the pedals it also means i still have a normal delay for a solo etc.... i know i could probably get DD 20 etc and programme it but i like the DD3...it's as tough as old boots and the one in the middle is over 10 years old and i find the sound is nearly analog with the repeats getting a little bit dirty sounding as they fade out.....the newer one on the ouside left is more clean in it's sound so i use this one for the gilmour type stuff....
Q/ happyplucker....How is the pedalboard building coming on....?? |

| I use a BCB-60 and am happy with it. I only use it at home so it does not see heavy duty abuse. I number of people have posted on various boards that the plastic latches break easily if the BCB is used with a lot of travel to and from gigs. |

I always put the latch sliders back to the latched position after I remove the lids, this reduces the possibility of a guitar cord snagging on the latch and they seem to be more solid when the latches are closed. If one does break off, a velcro cable tie around the handle would work fine. I have heard a lot about BCB latches breaking off easily but I have yet to see a broken one myself. I do see quite a bit of crappy old gear as I haunt the pawnshops and flea markets. I think the broken latch thing is somewhat of a urban myth, I don't doubt that some have been broken over the years, but I believe that the story of the BCB broken latch has been over stated |

franzoni, the pedal board is coming along not at all, as ive had busy busy syndrome lately, quite a few gigs, in and around london, and i live in manchester, a pretty long was to travell. i have some weeks of work in a few eeks, am going to make it my prroject. until then, i can design some blueprints whilst at work, which passes the time! cheers for the info on you delays, i do a similar thing with my two delays just wondered what sounds you were going for |

| BCB-6 is good and cheap as a board. The new BCB-60 is far to expensive IMO. A used BCB-6 will do. |

My first board was a piece of wood with the pedals stuck to it. The board then was a perfect fit inside a typical ABS briefcase/power-tool-box.
Then I changed to a Boss BCB6.
Then a Boss BCB60... It fitted my Boss DD20, had the stereo outs and had a decent power supply.
Now I use a Behringer PB1000... It's bigger than the BCB60, has a better power supply than the BCB60, and is a damn site cheaper. |
