Hey

There's a lot of talk about pluging this into an amp to get a bassman sound from a cheap valve amp / from a SS amp, but has anyone tried direct recording? I'm thinking of maybe getting one and using it rather than mic up my amp. I've got the a new Sound City amp 20W. I like the sound but I've moved into a flat so Im thinking of recording direct to keep the noise down. Is this pedal capable of getting an approx fender sound straight into a comp? Has anyone tried this maybe there's some sound clips about?

I don't think it's a DI pedal.. it's aimed at being used into a normal guitar amp, much like any normal OD pedal..

If you want a decent DI pedal have a look at the Sansamp Character pedals... now they are designed to go direct (hence Sans Amp).

There a few demos of them on You Tube too.

I think you'd need something after it to condition the output, rather than pluggin it straight into the recorder. Something that's expecting a guitar - like a line-6 Guitar-port or one of the cheaper sansamp things maybe.

That being said, I'm not sure how sophisticated the sound would be, but I don't see why it wouldn't work direct into a board (probably with a bit of EQ).

I'm convinced this pedal was designed to work with the Roland JC-120 amp...it sounds great through mine.

Hi

Cheers for the replies. I have a Tascam US-122L, which has a guitar input (Z = 1M). Would it possibly need a cab sim after the FBM-1?

My original idea was to have FBM-1 > FRV-1 > Tascam, with some pedals before them. (basically I wanted an amp sim that looked & sounded really cool )

I've read reviews saying the best setup to get a bassman sound out of it would be a clean flat 2/more speaker amp, which the JC-120 is.

I like those Sansamp pedals (the AC30 ). Anyone know if you can get a decent radiohead tone from this?

IMO From a purely aesthetic POV the FBM-1 & FRV-1 look alot better than the Sansamp (I'm so shallow).
