So I have the opportunity to acquire one at a decent price, just wondering what users here think about this one and what it does for your tone.

Although I dabble in Bass I was recalling old threads in which folks like it with a six-string.

Feel free to chime in with any and all LMB-3 arcana.

I had one on my board for a bit. It's a great little budget comp/limiter for bass. Very transparent sounding. For guitar I cannot comment.

Here is a review by a bassist

,...check out the rest of the site for really useful compressor reviews and some good tips.

I had one for a while, but I liked my CS-3 better.
It's still a good pedal though, just don't use the enhancer function.

I mainly sold it and switched back to the CS-3 because the LMB-3 hummed on an ACA adaptor, little did I know I had to use a PSA ooops.

I have the LMB-3, but like my LM-2 better for bass... the LMB-3's "enhancer" capability didn't seem to do much for me.

I was able to use a dash of the enhancer but only with a Music Electronix Submarine preamp in the chain. The preamp helped to tame the noise and the harshness of the Enhancer function. Otherwise it isn't a very useful feature.
