Hi,

Ive got the possibility to get a used Boss DS-1 with silver srew.
Unfortunately the owner changed one of the capacitors (the new one is blue now).

Does this modification have an influence on the orignal sound?

Thanks

Marco

that would depend on which cappie it was,

as long as it didn't damage the unit its easy to put right anyway from spares stocks.

if the price is good and the rest of the unit is stock and working it may be a good buy.

yes. all caps have different values the all vary one could be 5% off and another could be 20% off and another could be right on target. It is much tighter now, but when the pedal was made could be different. It can also depend on what cap was changed, how it effects the tone. You might not hear a difference in sound at all, i say if it sounds good use it

What would pay for it? Is 135 USD a realistic value? The rest of the unit is stock btw

Thx

Marco

For a silver screw DS-1...? i would say it was a decent price and to be honest i don't buy into all the audiophile guff about non-original parts like caps and resistors, caps wear out simple as.. and sometimes need to be changed,if it had been modded or altered in some other way then i would say it might have an impact....

i don't think we said hello before so welcome to the forum....

I have to agree with Franzoni,I have check out various mods recently I don't think anyone really touches that cap.Parts do wear and we will be seeing alot more of this in the future as these pedals get older, you try and find a original fender twin reverb with the original caps, it is becoming very hard to do. But hey as i said if it sounds good go for it
