i picked up a CE-2 w/ box the other day at a local shop by trading in an MIJ DS-1 + a PW-2

i cracked it open and found something rather weird...

i'm wondering if anyone has experimented with CE-2 mods and could tell me what this is... or supposed to be heh.

basically, i see a big yellow cap + an extra resistor... wondering what it's doing or is a part of and/or if i can remove it...

comparing that one to another MIJ aside from a few cap swaps and 1 diode it appears nothing really drastic is different other than that.

just realized that's probably a 9v/12v mod... am i right?

I'm guessing that the huge yellow cap is because it was used with a non-Boss unregulated power supply. The cap would stop the hum.

I would remove it and use a regulated uspply if it was my pedal... On the other hand, it probably isn't doing any harm.

i just tested it w/ a regulated 9v PS and no daisy chain and yah, it gets full power so i guess i could have answered my own question on that one as well as made the guess before i made the first posting (i didn't realize until after really lookin at the pictures).

i may rip it out... but not sure if i will yet.
