hey there! i bought a fv500l a few months ago. its a great pedal, built tough! but i realized that it directly contributes to a great loss of my tone. does anybody have a solution other than replacing the pedal? like i said its awesome in every other aspect, i just cant keep it if it makes me want to do this:
Where are you putting it in your chain between guitar and amp? If it's the L version meaning low impedance it shouldn't be the first thing you connect your guitar to, you need the H high impedance version for that. If it is the first thing then put a buffered pedal (i.e. any Boss one) before it. I also have the L version and haven't noticed any real problem with it.
Correction I have the FV50 but the principle regarding impedance is the same
You need a "H" model, if you want to plug the guitar straight into the volume pedal. Like archimedes said, the "L" model is designed for low impedance signals (keyboards, line level signals etc), so you need a buffer in front of it. Most Boss pedals have sufficiently low output impedance to drive the FV-500L, so try that.
