to run a "master" amp's speaker out into a THD Hotplate Att.'s "input" jack THEN either run from the "line out" on the Hotplate into the "slave" amp's input jack or from the "speaker out" on the Hotplate into the "slave" amp's input and then run the speaker load on the "slave" as normal...I want to use the preamp AND power section of my Orange OR80 but slave it w/ an Orange OR120 for the master vol....i'm wondering if it's possible...seems like I read about EVH using a similar setup in the 70's so he could...A. dime the Marshall Superlead but not kill all within earshot(by slaving out to another head)...B. he could run his time based effects after the master and before the slave...kinda like a series effects loop...we all know how bad delays sound when ran into the front of a dimed amp(unless it's uberclean)...hoping this is possible would just about make my day keen as hell
First example will work but i'm rather sure you need something connected to the THD Hotplate Att.s Speaker output. you could connect your master amp speakers to that.

In this example you are using the OR80 Preamp and Poweramp into the OR120 poweramp.
Note that you are performing many conversions. Guitar Level>Line Level>Speaker Level>Line Level>Speaker Level

You are putting a Speaker Level Output into a Line Level Input
I would personally go with the following setup although it does not transfer the power-amp section qualities from the OR80 to your OR120
Master Amp Preamp Send or FX Send > Slave Amp Poweram Input or FX Return > Then connect either of the two amps to the Att. to reduce the volume.
...from what I understand IF you have the Hotplate set to LOAD then you need no load out from the Att to another cab....use the "line out" on the hotplate into the slave...correct me if i'm wrong but if I ran from the speaker out jack on the Hotplate into the slave wouldn't that do damage to the amp?...I don't want to use the Hotplate as an Att....just want both stages of my amp to be slaved by a higher watt amp...the key is I must be able to use PRE & POWER tube stages in the master amp!!!!!!the Hotplate is just being used as a dummy load...I'd buy just the dummy box but I really need an Att. in other situations...when it comes time to do a gig..all I want to drag around is 1 cab and 2 heads...
