FYI- Not Boss related, but eBay related...
I just recently started selling some things on eBay. Today I had a listing end, and just minutes after it ended I get someone emailing saying how if I had another they'd be interested because they are rebuilding a collection after Hurricane Katrina, but funds are limited. They are from Louisiana, but I am wondering if this is a new round of eBay pitches to get good deals. Just wondering.
I responded because I actually do have an extra of the item in question, but flatout said that the price would be around the same as the previous one, I guess I'll see what the response is since I didn't just say send this (reduced) amount due to your pitch to PayPal and do a deal off the record. I think thats what they were hoping for...if they were just scamming. I think if they are legit, I think they'll respond with some sort of "counteroffer"....
Any thoughts? |

| Tell him it is full price but you will donate a portion to a Katrina relief fund. Bet that will make him lose interest. |

| it would be nice, but you can never know for sure over the net. like that guy selling his slow gear saying that half would go to his church and sick kids and such. its a nice thought but most likely BS. |

hi guys I would charge full price or more, yes he missed the auction, but you can also auction of the other "whatever it is" and get same or more for it as well. make sure he pays up front too.

Thanks for your thoughts, I mean I feel sort of bad if this guy is telling the truth, but people are always out to scam.
I am not trying to get rich selling things on eBay, but I am currently in between jobs, and if every business or person selling anything was sympathetic to every story of adverse circumstances, many businesses would be bankrupt...
Plus it was just weird that his email came about 30 minutes after the item was bought using BIN...I didn't think Completed Listings transfer over to Completed Listing searches that quickly, which is how he said he found me, but I actually think he was the 1 watcher I had on the item.... |

As you (and the godfather) say: Its buisiness If you knew the person, then it would be different |

| Charity is for food, shelter, and clothing. If you are selling something else, he does not need a discount. |

Well spoken, Big Boss Man, I'll second that.

I GUESS this is exactly why eBay has starting hiding bidders identity on auctions. (kind of).
only losers try to link something as trivial as a pedal collection to a natural disaster. that's what you have insurance for. that's what house/apartment/condo insurance covers. if you are a pro musician, you must have separate insurance for your gear, YOU ALL KNOW THAT, RIGHT? |

Big Boss Man, I am writing that down so when I get another inquiry like the one that started this whole thread, I can remind myself of that.
The weird thing is, the item was something that I thought I was asking too much for on BIN ($15.99 + $5 S&H), and figured I'd be stuck with it for awhile. It was a T-shirt and CD for former pro-wrestler Chris Jericho's metal band Fozzy. What is also funny is that out of all the items I listed, I assumed certain ones would move fast, but they haven't, and the items I thought were going to need to be relisted at least once have been shipped. Go figure... |
