Look under the spring, looks very much like one of the hairs of the brush that was used to paint it.......

The bare aluminium underneath doesnt seem to exhibit the same texture as the 'brush strokes' but admittedly my eyesight is not that great for stuff like this - what do you guys make of these pics?

Think whatever it is, paintwork was certainly not their forte in the early days - so much dust and dirt inclusions, they didn't even use primer on these early ones and you can see the metal through the paint in places (but started later on)
