Anyone know anything about this mod like what is it similar to? My friend was wanting to get his SD-1 done, but the web site has been down for months which makes me think the guy is no longer in buss. If anyone could suggest some similar mod I would be greatfull.
thanks |

It is suposed to be the best OD for dropped d tuning to put in front of a 5150 type of amp. I believe it tightens the bass up for that tuning as well from what my friend said. This is a review from the net:
Joe offers two base mods for the SD-1. One mod is called the "Chaos Mod" and the other is called the "Guinness Mod". The Chaos Mod has a bit more cut and overall aggressive character, while the Guinness Mod is more thick/smooth. Joe offers an optional switch that lets you toggle between both mods, and this is what I opted for. |

ok, I used the way back machine web site and got this page from last year:
Boss SD-1 808 MOD Makes your SD-1 sound like an Ibanez TS808
The Guinness MOD Mmm... Guinness... The beer that is. What comes to mind when you think of Guinness? I think "stout" and "smooth" which is exactly what this mod does to your SD-1. Similar the the Hugh Jass mod I do to tubescreamers with a little extra! You get: Improved Clarity More available drive / improved clarity Improved fidelity, dynamics, and more complex harmonics Improved bass response SMOOTH tube-like clipping Chaos Mod Similar to the Guinness mod but taken over the top! This starts with the 808 mod and you get all the same benefits as the Guinness mod... But wait! There's more! The fidelity, dynamics, bass response, and clarity are taken a step further. Instead of focusing on smoothness I focused on making this sound huge and clear! It has more output than the other mods and less dirt. WONDERFUL for taking your already distorted amp over the top!!! Also works great for making your clean channel louder for solos!
I can also add a switch to this mod to switch between the almighty powerful Chaos mod clipping section and the uber smooth Guinness clipping. With the added benefits of the Chaos mod the Guinness clipping sounds even better that the Guinness mod alone!!!
Other Options Two way switch to go between the clipping diodes used in the Chaos mod and the Guinness mod (available for either mod, will not make the Guinness mod sound exactly like the Chaos mod! Many other parts differ between the two than diodes!) Add $15 to the total price of a mod for this option.
Bleed fix mod: SD-1s have a problem. When you have the pedal off with the drive knob up some of the drive still bleeds through the pedal. This can be very frustrating when trying to play clean! I have a mod that fixes this! I can do it for you or you can buy it from me and do it yourself. If I do it in addition to other mods it's $20, if you want the stuff to do it yourself it's $15. You will get a tiny circuit board covered in heatshrink to prevent it shorting out anywhere. There will be 3 wires hanging out of it and simple instructions on where to solder those wires.
Prices (includes US shipping): 808 mod: $25 The Guinness Mod: $30 Chaos: $40 I also offer new pedals already modded! Add $50 to the price of the mods for this option.

I've never heard Bloody Murder mod, but I've heard Bleed mod. I really believe that bleed fix mod which is the one of the parts of this mod is bypass mod. I got the schematic called 'Bleed' mod from my local forum here in Indonesia.
The function of this mod is to refine the bypass operation of SD-1 by using a transistor connected to some resistor at the circuit.

Hello Dr.Bob. Hehe, that's my first post. Oh yeah, I wonder why I can't post my picture. The window said that 'the picture already uploaded', something like that..
Hi gymnopedist I have not added the "Image Display HTLM" as this is a modified copyright schematic of the SD-1. If you belive you need it, please just down load it from the link below. Link & download verified. - Moderator.
