OK this thing goes from crunch to lead. Very cool I just wonder how it works.

I see the mode setting, but does it go from clean, then one click to crunch, then another click to lead. I assume the next click takes you back to clean?

Is this right?

How do you go back and forth between crunch and lead, without going to clean in between?

I've been after one of these for a while, but they always seem to evade me. Is it similar in sound to the OD-2r?

hey gizzorge...the SD-2 has a 3 way setting as the 4th knob. #1 is crunch which has a red LED, #2 is lead which has a green LED.and #3 is crunch/lead.(i think...i dont have the pedal with me at the moment) when in mode #3, and you push the pedal, it will go from crunch to lead and back to crunch if pushed again, and the LED will change colors accordingly so you know which setting youre on. to answer your question, if you are on mode 3, you cant turn the pedal off to get a clean setting. the setting will only switch between crunch and lead which is awesome in my opinion. just say in a live song you use "crunch" for regular gain. then for the solo, one push and youre on "lead" and then go back to "crunch" with one push after the solo. i think having it go back to clean would make it complicated because you would have to double tap after your solo
plus the tones you can get with it are awesome and it can do almost any OD sound. personally its not my favorite OD (i like OD-1/BD-2 type stuff), but the SD-2 is the ULTIMATE live/jamming pedal.

The footswitch just allows you to go from mode 1 to 2 and back. To go to clean you just need to turn the pedal off.

Hi Guys

The user (operator) manual is available at the link below.
Thought this might clear up some of the questions in this thread.
Boss call it an Operators Manual hence the SD-2_OM

http://www.rolandus.com/support/product_manuals/SD-2_OM.pdf

For other manuals, just change the name of the pedal in the above link.
for example:
SD-2 might be SD-1 or DD-5 etc.
Note: not all manuals are available.

Hope this helps you all out.

I have a schematic & PCB overlay of the SD-2
PM me if anyone really needs a copy;
which an also be found on the web.
