I have a amp and a line 6 podx3. I generally use headphones with my pod. However, as I get more pedals, I'm growing interested in not using my pod as much, yet I still need to have the ability to use my headphones.
Is there a device that will allow me to plug my guitar into all my affects, then affects out to some device that can power a set of headphones?
I'd actually be very interested in a DYI project if there is one. |

pedals into a headphone amp or mixer without an amp sim won't sound as good.... i have a pod rackmount and i find it pretty decent for headphones and recording to be honest.... |

| I haven't tried the Digitech Bad Monkey pedal myself but if the simulated out works in bypass mode that'd be the way to go |

Can you make the pod the last unit in the chain and keep it fx free or just run an amp sim?
Wouldn't that work for you? |

I tried that, it worked but just didn't sound very good.
What I'm going for is simply being able to hear my pedals with headphones without any influence by other electronics coloring the sound. |

| You'll need at least a speaker simulator |

| Well, I'll have to try that little Smokey Amp that was given to me today... That may due the trick. I'm not going to hold out too much hope that it's going to produce a nice hi-fi sound output though. |

FWIW....gtr > boss fx > headphones will sound like crap too. Even with a speaker sim.
If your only issue is to get to use your headphones, thats the option with having to buy anything.
I don't have one (so someone, I'm sure will correct me) but I'm guessing that the pods aren't really all that pedal friendly. I'm guessing thats why it sounds like crap.
The Pod isn't an amp, and lets be honest some actual amps aren't all that pedal friendly.
Maybe a headphone amp is where you need to go...or a small amp that has a headphone jack. |

| Yeah, I've been looking at some DIY headphone amps. Might have to stop by radio shack and see what they have for kits |
