I've been a forum member for a whopping 24 hours now, and its a great place! much friendlier than any other forums i've been on, ever. Seriously.
however, I just had a couple of ideas that could be useful? First one is a simple idea but I dont know how easy it is, and its just a thread tracker of some kind. So when you post a reply on a thread (or post a new thread of course) you can then track it from the profile page, so you can easily navigate back to that particular thread. It could also have the various icons that are on the main forums (unread, read, hot topic etc) so you can see which ones have new posts. Would be useful anywhere, but especially when you're asking a question or selling something so you can see quickly and easily where you need to read new replies.
Second thing is maybe some kind of signatures on posts? Obviously with size limits, but maybe people could have text/a small image of their pedal rig etc? For example, mine would have a horizontal list of all my pedals, then underneath a short wide photo with the pedals all in a line, matching up to their names above. Obviously this idea isn't really as useful as the first, just got the idea when I saw another suggestion saying we should have our pedal boards on our profiles.
*edit* just noticed as far as my first suggestion goes: you can already see other peoples recent posts if you go to their profile. Maybe just add this to the bottom of the page when we click the "profile" link at the top, so we can see our own posts? should be very simple as it already exists elsewhere :)

I'm glad that no signatures are available. But anyway I prefer those without pictures. In several forums you cannot read anything because of the mega swoosh! bang! pow! animated ultracool signature pics. |

Welcome to the forum Flenix!
I've found that at the moment this forum doesn't have the rate of new posts that some of the larger forums have, so it's not too hard to find new posts... although it would be a little easier with a reply tracker I guess...
I'd have to agree with Pepe on the sigs... besides you get to put an avatar up. That could be a pic of you board if you wanted. It's cool to see other peoples board but that's what the "Show us your pedalboards" thread is for. I'm not so sure I'd want to see a sig after every post, especially in those threads where the replies are short and would be overshadowed by the sigs!
...just my opinion |

I agree, no signatures. I swear if bossarea decides to go with signatures and members fill it with giant, flashing crap I'm gone.
I'm also not very fond of replies quoting others giant pictures, that way we'll keep scrolling through a bunch of s**t before we get to the interesting bits. |

| Yeah I see your point with the whole annoying sigs things, maybe just like a funny quote or something? I know what i'd have: I saw somewhere on here Bossarea said he thought the DD-5 had a function that emulates a slow gear :) they do have a lot of features, but the closest to that is the reverse.. |

I think we all are fine with the way things are here. The Bossarea forum misses all the annoying features other forums have and that's cool. Enjoy more time here and maybe you'll realize there's just everything you need.
EDIT: oh, I forgot to say Welcome |

You have a point. Maybe this is why I like the bossarea forum and don't like any others? Seriously, this is the first place i've got to above 10 posts :) |

I like it as it is now: no signatures.
The tracker would be cool. Sometimes, when I hit the active topics button, he recognizes the session at the moment as my last session, so no topics show up. Anyone else having the same problem?

I'm all for no signatures as well, makes reading the page much easier
Mine does that but I just set the "Active Topics Since " pull down to longer and all is good. |

Hi Guys Check that in your browser's settings you have Cookies Enabled. Bossarea.com/forum uses a safe & benign cookie, to keep track of the "Active Topics Since" function.
The "Active Topics Since" function, works well for me. In case any of you are wondering, I use FireFox 3.6.x
Also check that you don't have multiple Tabs open from a previous session, this can sometimes confuse the bossarea Cookie.
I hope this helps. Regards Dr. Bob |
