Nah, got better things to do with a ce2 than 'restore' it.
Looks more like an over modified pedal and somehow looses it true sound

I think he forgot to put a comma in his BIN price.
Surely he meant $1.99.

WTF? I am completely flabberghasted. How can this happen when good ones are going for $150?

It looks like that is a standard mod from his website

For anyone to resort to this kind of "mod" shows a lack of imagination and skill... and on a vintage pedal to boot.

changing interstage and tone caps...maybe a bad idea.
i have a feeling its the inefficiency of old caps that makes em sound good.
burr and brown?
again...the old grainy ic chip is probably a big key to the sound.

the 5mm led... good idea? not worth the trouble.

the true bypass switch is awesome.

i just did the monte allums mods to the jap ge 7 that i own
that pedal is now 10 times better.
but, that pedal is not an effect as such...so transperancy is important.
no more fuzzy grainy sounds...much less hiss...awesome eq...very focused lows...very sweet highs.....
actually its an amazing mod.

You are kidding right? That's the worst part of the mod, not for sonic reasons but because it destroys the look and resale value of a vintage pedal. There are much better ways to TB a FET switched pedal.
There should be a sticky thread about "Mods Gone Bad" or maybe "Crimes Against Boss Pedals"

& looks like

And I guess this is now a superfluous question:

How do you get a battery into it?

With these true-bypass mods, you don't.

I suppose any pedal is collectible to a collector...There were only so many made so the "value" of any particular pedal changes. Maybe the MIT pedals are not as valued as the MIJ versions, but that could change.
What if there were a way to TB a Boss pedal without drilling, cutting or otherwise modding it in a way that is not reversible? You could have a pedal that is usable but could be resold when some guy on the forum wants to pay you $250 for it.
I am not arguing against the sonic merits of modifying a pedal, just the execution.

There is - it uses a latching relay, driven by the flip-flop. Bit fiddly and a bit expensive, but it's just soldering of wires and is 100% reversible.
