We all have gadgets and things that makes life easier to live as guitar/bass/keyboard players, something that weve had for some time and couldnt live without. It could be anything from the best capacitors for a guitars tone control to the best polish youve ever used, in short there is no limitations. So please tell us all about your secret must-have, it can be more than one of course!
There is one thing I really has a lot of pleasure with and have had for the last 3-4 years and thats the Roland Micro Cube. It sounds really good at low levels, have some nice effects and amp types, a good line driver and battery powered if you wish. Of course it not as good as my modded Epi Valve Junior, but at bedroom levels its very good sounding. And I can get ready for playing in seconds, anywhere, even in the garden if I wish. Its a great tool for creavity!!!
Another tool I use every time I work (or restring) on a guitar is the Planet Waves Guitar Headstand, great little thing! http://www.geartree.com/p-2330-planet-waves-pw-hds-headstand.aspx

Hi Goran & Guys
I also use the Planet Waves Guitar Headstand. It was an impulse (GAS) buy, that has paid for itself many times over.
For late night & private practice, or if I want to travel light, I use a Korg Pandora PX4D, & run it into a set of lightweight open headphones or the Ear Buds from my older iPod. In fact, with the PX4D, you can connect the iPod or other source, to the PX4D's aux input & Jam along.
This Aux port allows you to do real-time pitch shifting, if you are going to riff away with someone like SRV who is tuned a 1/2 step down.
While here in OZ the RRP was expensive, I have never looked back. And it runs for about 100+ hours on four AAA batteries, & can be used for bass as well. 100 presets - 100 user memories, 19 effects inc, amp & cab sims.
You can also plug this into desk, & use it as your amp sim.
I sound like a promo for the PX4D.
Regards Dr. Bob

A pair of straplocks on all my instruments are must-have's. The hipshot detuner on my basses is real practical, especially live. I can actually change from E to drop D in the middle of a song if I want to. |

I'm struggling to think of any must-haves but the cup holder in defrag's post looks like a contender |

Dunlop Tortex...
A Tuner...
A Drill, because I can drill, cut, route, and do other stuff I probably shouldn't do with a drill, for working on, fixing, and modding guitar and guitar related equipment...
Duct tape or gaffers tape.
DiMarzio cliplock straps.
Sense of humor and/or patience. |

1.swiss knife with flat and phillips screw drivers. you can even use the nail file to shape your pick. 2.pickholders on guitar, i don't like the gummy residue of masking tape. i also have a strap with a pickholder built in its leather end. thought it was a defect.

Hi Laurie
Nice Weller Does it count for something, if mine is way older & has seen more battles?
When the my Ixus 400 camera is back online, I'll PM you, I have a simple mod on mine.

An 80-pound Mesa Boogie 2x12 slant front vertical 1/2 back loaded with Celestion M-90s. Did I say "indestructible" Did I say "myriad of micing-up options" Did I say "LOUD" Did I say "Crunch" Did I say "if you have a crappy speaker, you will hear crap ... if you have a great speaker you will LOVE LOVE LOVE to play through it!!!" |

Oh yes... and some of you who have been around may recall ... i love stacking DD-2s.
Try this trick - if you like to run your effects through loop built-in to your amp, put a delay pedal or modulator before your amp in put instead, while using your Amp distortion ... the decays will have less overdrive in them as they decay, making a sweet sound for atmospheric playing and moody solos. |
