Whenever I buy something new or spend far too much time getting excited over a silver screw, my girlfriend humours me. However, whenever the subject is brought up in company, she always dismisses my collection as "my addiction to little knobs" - a fairly accurate description.
Does anyone else have a wife, girlfriend or indeed family with less than positive views over the row upon row of little metal boxes that clutter the floor? |

Hmmm... My wife doing that in public would piss me off. I admire your calm and inner peace
I can usually equate it to her desire for ever more expensive hand-bags and shoes...

Mrs F is fairly understanding about it all in fairness.... i try not to go too nuts with the G.A.S. to often so as to keep a lid on things, like laurie i usually find a little prezzie now and again balances things out,i got here a new laptop in aldi last week so around christmas i think Franzoni needs a new mandolin... as the neck on my old one is cracked... ......also as i'm out gigging most weekends,it's amazing when you come home with a few quid how things seem to smooth over..even when i fall in through the door after too many of these.... .... |

I currently don't have a significant other that I have to explain it to, however, whenever my parents visit I have to hide a few guitars in order to not have the "Why do you need so many guitars?" conversation... |

The Frag is single (divorced) so the only problem I have now is restraint since my sons start uni. Ask Bob.. I haven't bought anything in months. |

University! That's a relief. It happened so abruptly, I thought it had to do with Freddie May's Fanny or whatever it's called. |

I give her a choice, Boss Petals or Cocaine and Alcohol. But I still get the look when I get UPS & Fed Ex deliveries. |

My wife likes my Boss collection, but in a period I bought at least one pedal a week she wasn´t so glad. I had to smuggle in a couple of them and hide them for a while. I´ve told her that every pedal will be worth a lot of money in a couple of years, well, this is not the whole truth… Guitars are a little harder to take home and hide, and to tell her I´ve repainted that Strat, well…. or “That one? I´ve had it in the attic for years, don´t you remember?” Another solution: Have the new ones in hard cases and play them only when the wife is out. Or put a guitar you don´t use very much in the hard case and hang the new one on the wall, saying you did a trade, no money involved. But fairly, my wife like guitars on the wall, she think they are just as nice as paintings.

My wife plays bass, keyboards, recorders, etc... So she's not particularly bothered what music stuff (for playing or listening) I buy as long as it sounds good, does the job... oh and doesn't break the bank.
A few years ago we had no summer holiday, but both of us spent weeks sitting in demo rooms around the country trying out various speakers for the hifi!!
This year she's decided to spend nearly £1K and buy a set of Stained-Maplewood Moeck Recorders... because she liked the sound of them. To be honest, even I was impressed with the sound. |

this all sounds eerily familiar........... i had to smuggle the CE-2 into the house and get it on my 'board before my childen noticed....my oldest girl has the model of the pedals down pretty good so i have to be very careful.... the thing with the guitars i've also done, the 12 string was broght into the house that way... ....a saying my mother uses " great minds think alike...fools seldom differ..."........... .Paul H your a lucky guy...... |

When a pedal arrives it's a bit like this:
Me: GF:
My GF doesn't understand my GAS, last week i've got three packages with pedals so it is a bit understandable that she asked me if i was actually use all the pedals i've got so far. Didn't tell her that i am expecting another one next monday... |

I'm not at all surprised by the responses, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! It's hard when you get a bargain and you want to tell anyone who will listen, but you feel like you should be a little bit ashamed that you've spent the weeks groceries money on something that doesn't even work... |

If both you & your wife work, bills are paid, food on the table, kids are taken care of, retirement account growing, & there exists disposable income... divide equally it 3 ways.
1. Her spending money 2. Your spending money 3. Common money for movies, dinner together etc.
If she doesn't work, then grow a nut & take control. As long as everything is taken care of, she doesn't have a leg to stand on. Unless she really doesn't have legs to stand on.
I see too many guys that are whipped & STILL AREN'T GETTING ANY! OMFG. Want to bet when my dad thought he needed a new truck that he didn't ask permission from my mother? |
