As said, the HR-2 was a bit expensive (175 € in a local Music shop) and was a bit used.. |

WOW, maybe I shouldn't post this, but last MAY a but a guy here in town was selling boss pedal lot, and mentioned an HR-2, so since I was way way at the other end of town I bought the whole batch for $300 CDN I got ... PS-3 box instructions only few chips AW-3 box instruction baggie mint and new shape PH-3 box only near mint EV-5 clean HR-2 mint w box but no manual PSA Adapter
I sold everything except the HR-2 and the PSA 120.
Why did I sell them? PS-3 didn't produce "space jam" effects that DD-2 does (*adjusting the delay time, while the delay was feeding back, STEPPED the notes. blechh) the AW-3, tending to sound thin and artificial the PH-3, already had a PH-3, I subsequently sold all PH-3s, I only liked the 4 stage sound, but, it created a volume drop; I had 3 PH-3s and they all did this so I ditched the pedal. (hoping for a PH-1r) and now after selling an early PH-2 that was dinged up, bought a minty MIJ PH-2.
I ended up netting about $350USD after shipping, and a FREE HR-2.
I think the best way to get pedals is to find one you like, purchase it in a lot, and sell the ones you don't want.
I missed a good deal on a loaded BCB-6 that had all MIJ pedals including a DC-3; it went for 380.00. subract $150 for the DC-3, and say $75 for the bcb and psm ant you got 4 MIJ pedals for only $155.
I think the pedal lots sell for less because the average buyer then rationalizes, sheez for $350 i can get a awesome effects processor etc etc.
anyways, that's a good strategy if you know what you're doing and you can be out the cash for month and 1/2 while your pedals come and then you convert the ones you don't want back to cash.

That old NF-1 was a cool find. Those old ones are not that common, and considering you got it for $45.
I got my DM-2 for about $145, so Im quite happy too. |

Well, my package from the west coast USA came today ... a BCB 6 with a PSM5, PH-2, HM-2, and a CE-3.
All the pedals were litely dinged on the top, except the PH-2, which is in very very good shape, the CE-3 has a nice metalflake finish, and the HM-2 was covered in goop, and had two sets of nail polish marking seetings on them.
They all have been sitting in this BCB 6, and HAVE PERFECTLY MINT BOTTOMs with labels intact, THE PSM5 has a 5 series serial number; the PH-2 a 4 series Sn, the cE3,a 5 series ssn, and the HM-2 a 3 series SN so methinks it is a first production HM-2.
Now this HM-2 was a bitch to tweak, but, after playing with it, I frigging got a marshall stack sound out of it, but you need to work BOTH tone controls together, and keep the distortion way down, about 8am on the dial. NOTTA bad little box! (in another thread about using AMP distortion vs pedal distoration, I disowned using pedal distorion). Anyways, so I can see how this pedal gives a gritty bite that, well i'm not a fan of, but, has a pretty hard clip sound, that maybe I've heard in "the Clash" or some orther early 80's quasi punk??? Good little box.
CE-3 is old staple everyone knows what that does, ditto for the PH-2.

I like CS-2´s way of compressing better, suits my guitar playing more, the CS-1 pumps a lot and I don´t like it. BUT since I gave CS-1 a new try I tried to use just a hint of sustain (before or around 8 o clock), and I liked what I heard. This setting fattens up overdrives in a very nice way. So now (today) I will say: CS-2 is better as a “general” compressor than CS-1 BUT CS-1 is great for fatten up distortion devices, if this makes sense….

| Got a nearly mint OD-1 today for €45, which is a nice deal i think. But... it sounds very different from the OD-1 i'm borrowing from a friend. Both have a JRC4558DD, but mine sounds so much thinner than his beaten up one. Can't find a smiley which matches my mixed feelings right now... |

Got a CE-2 (long dash silver screw)in yesterday off of Ebay. The gentleman selling it said all was well with it. When I open it both knobs where loose, the battery clip was broken, the switch worked periodically and the spring was much smaller than my other Boss pedals. Tightened her up, sprayed Deoxit on any thing that moves cleaned the 1/4 inch jacks and now I'm in Chorus heaven. I use a Pedal Power 2 so the battery clip being broken is not a worry. The CE-2 has been THE missing link in my tone. It truly is the BEST chorus EVER! |

ph-2 (mij) for $15. looks like it fell out of a car doing 55+, but the knobs are still attached & it works.
not a pedal, but i also got the ce-300 for $49. having a tone control & input control/meter on a chorus is pretty nice. |
