| Ive got a Taiwanese CE-2 recently.Comparing to another MIJ CE-2,found the circuit to be exactly the same, but obviously the MIJ sounds 'deeper',richer and better...any thoughts? |

i know i probably sound like an ass, but i say its 90 percent placebo effect. i own 3 CE-2s (2 MIJ and 1 MIT) and all 3 sound very similar. the difference is so minimal. in fact i think i only hear a slight difference because im trying to listen too hard for one. i think some people have themselves pre-convinced that there will be a difference in sound. im guilty of this too.
i do, however, think that older effects generally seem to sound better than newer. and by this i mean different models. for example the PH-1r and the PH-3. or the CE-2 and CE-5. it just seems the older models were made with love or something.
i would take a simple 2 knobbed TW-1 over a crazy AW-3 that talks the alphabet for you. Why? because it was made with love, thats why
oh my god, its happening. im turning into that one of those guitarists that i used to hate that went on and on about "organic tone." |

Not to get too nit-picky, but how exact is the circuty? The MITs probably used the same circut board layout, but with over time, the parts used become obsolete by the vendors and no longer produce them. (OT those special blender pots you find on some vintage strats became obsolete and Fender bought the last of their stock) The Boss engineers could have used compatable parts even from a different manufactuer that function in the same way but maybe lacking or having extra functions. ICs usually contain the part number, batch and datecodes. Outta cutiosity, does the mij pcb look better than the mit?

Well, here i have a rough pic of the boards, with the MIJ CE-2 on the right.I think the circuit is quite similar, but a difference notably on the capacitors.
