Hi there! today I started having an intermitent signal/gain drop on my setup... finally put the wah out of the chain and found out it was the source of the problem. Right now, when it's turned off, it sucks volume and gain, but when on, it lets the whole signal go through... It's a new problem, it didn't do that before. I was wondering what is wrong with the pedal? I'm guessing I need a new switch? Are they easily found? Has anyone experienced a problem like this? |

Hi midibuddy & Guys
This is one of the problems that you will encounter, when the 9V battery starts going flat.
But then again, if you are running it off a plug pack, then it's probably a different fault.
Remember that the crybaby does NOT have true bypass.
Maybe try spraying some switch & contact cleaner down the shaft of the switch, although these switches are pretty well sealed.
As far a obtaining a new switch, besides direct for Jim Dunlop, or your nearest music dealer (costly). There are a number of dealers on Evilbay that sell crybaby spares.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Yeah I dumped my CB and Vox reissue for the same reason (tone suck).
It caused me to look at all my gear to see what was TB and what wasn't now 5 of 8 are TB and the only ones that aren't are the Boss pedals .
I wound up going with the Budda Wha. |

I didn't have that problem before... it didn't have a noticeable "tone suckage" before... right now it even lowers the distortion coming from my pedals, so it'`s stealing a lot of signal I guess... What would you reccomend doing? Maybe the switch went bad? |

i heard that most wah pedals suck tone naturally. some claim that NS-2s and TU-2s suck tone as well. im pretty sure that its just the way the pedal is made |

no, I'm pretty sure that something went wrong with the pedal, since although it did have a lil' bit of tone suckage before, it was almost unnoticeable... now it's definitely noticeable, and it lowers the signal so much that the Ds-1 makes less distortion than before... sometimes it sounds ok, but if I start pressing and depressing the button the pedal eventually fails again... What do you think it might have happenned to the pedal?

| hey midibuddy.. like Dr Bob suggested, did you try with a new battery? did you open it up to see if any wires are loose/disconnected? |

Hi midibuddy been a while...good to see you back...are you still gigging away...were back on the road doing usually two gigs a week these days.....
I had a similar problem a couple of years ago...i thought it was a jap ds1 i found in a shed.... but after reading up on it i took the backplate off the crybaby and sprayed the input/output jacks and as much of the switch and the wah pot as i could...as Dr Bob pointed out this is hard as they are sealed units..i used a switch cleaner called servsol i think you can get it in most electricial suppliers....the wah pot is starting to go now as well,i think it's the track on the inside of the pot....also as the Doc pointed out original dunlop spares are costly ...they wanted over 30 euro just for a wah pot in a music shop in dublin....!!!! but i think the switch is the no1 suspect in this case...in fact a few people mentioned to me at the last gig i was very quiet at the start and loud in parts i did notice volume spikes myself..i thought that one of the guitar leads was going ...but now you have me thinking maybe the wah is acting up again.......
i was thinking about going for a teese wah or maybe a budda the next time but thay a very difficult to get here and very expensive to import from the states..my best bet is to wait 'till the next time i'm on the continent ring ahead and order the pedals i want and get them all at the same time as well as the two smaller combos i want..... we have been offered a a few gigs in amsterdam but have to wait for the people to come back to us..... |

hi there Franzoni! No gigging these days.. as a matter of fact, I'm practicing more than I did before, since I started having classes like a month and a half ago... learning many new things (at least to me)...
email me, I have to ask you a few tips about gear...

Apperently, if you use your Boss TU-2 or something like that it can act as a buffer. I brough my RI 847 into a reapir guy and he (GASP) suggested that I not get true bypass done.
However, a modded wah is well worth the investment. I got really frustrated with stock wahs... |
