Hi DeFrag
I'm not familiar with the PDS-10, or my reference to it got lost in all the grey matter..

Regards Dr. Bob

Roland's high quality stand for the VG-99.

Even as the VG-99 is all that & a bag of chips, its main purpose is to model different guitars & amps. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the sounds of strings, brass, vocals, etc found only in the GR-20.

Hi DeFrag

But you could take the MIDI OUT-THRU & plug it into Synths or rack gear, or back into a VST - VSTi on your PC/Mac

I Used to do this with my Suzuki XG-1m controller.
I always loved to have a (slow attack) synth string on my sampler, running at the same time as a (fast attack) patch on another bit of gear.
Or Bass & strings, was another Favorite of mine.

Just remember that Technically if you daisy chain MIDI, you will see approx 3 to 5ms (milli seconds) of delay on every serial MIDI link.
I minimized this by having all the gear hooked up to a MIDI breakout box (similar to a star network), and all the MIDI delays were at the same delay.

As 4 to 5 serial MIDI jumps in the daisy chain, would almost equal 15ms.
Not good for timing with a Drum machine or click track.
But the delay effect can be put to great use, if you get creative.
I did all this with an Akai MIDI Matrix switch-box, which I still have somewhere???

I hope I didn't confuse you, MIDI can get as complex as a corporate data network, & all in the back corner of your room.
But boy can you have some fun with it.

And now that everyone seems to believe that VST's are the way to go, MIDI gear, especially rack gear, is selling for ridiculously cheap prices.
I know the hardware synth vs the softsynth debate can rage on forever.
But from my point of view, buy up before the converts wise up

You don't/won't have to install a new updated VST or patch WindDOZ, to keep a Vintage/modern hardware synth running & rocking out.
And the Knobs - all those real knobs, to tweek ..

Just like a great tube amp........
