What are your favorite pedal makers other than Boss?
Which pedal by that maker is your favorite?
Oh no... Here come a hundred Tube Screamer replies! |

I have no other favorite really, Ibanez, DOD, Marshall etc, all have made some good pedal/pedals but not a complete line of over 80 compacts. T Rex has a good line and I like their Tremster a lot. Fender has a very good and very big pedal I like a lot, the Fender Reverb (stand alone) |

I recently bought an MXR M-80 DI, which has an "equalizer"-effect and a distortion. The equalizer has the normal: bass-middle-treble but it also has a 'colour'-button which is a preset-eq. Man, maybe I am just to stupid to set up my equalizer myself, but when I push this 'colour'-button it boosts my bass just the way I like it. I get this 'fat' bas-sound that sends me straight to tone heaven. This is actually the only pedal (right at the end of my chain) that is always on. So, I cannot say that MXR is my favorite non-Boss brand (not enough experience) but this pedal certainly got me interested into MXR.
To be complete: the distortion-part is OK, it has a nice 'blend'-button so you can mix wet and dry signal (very important for bas) but I have not yet found any use for the distortion (yet). |

That sounds interesting. I don't think it matters that you rely on the "color" button for getting a good sound... That's why it's there, right? |

The winner in the Favorite Non-Boss pedal goes to... (and i know i've said this a million times already) My Tube Works Real Tube OD (More like a distortion than an overdrive) It's probably one of the best OD's I've ever heard. On harmony-central ppl talk about how it has too much gain and they swap out the 12ax7 for something lower gain but I love it with a 12AX7, and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. I highly recomend it. |

| Going by design I like what Digitech has to offer. They're X-series looks solid and well put together. I quite fancy their Clapton overdrive but I haven't tested it yet. |

| Now that you mention DigiTech, I'm curious to try out the Distortion Factory. Especially if it acurately does the Rat. I want to use my Rat on my board, but it's too damn big. Same goes for the BMP. |

I'd like to put my hands on a hot-rod from the x-series. They say it's THE most versatile distortion on market.
I also believe that distortions from x-series are digital. Am I completely wrong? |

| I haven't used one of the Hot Rods, but I knew a guy that played with one and it sounded terrible. Could have been the settings he had of course, but since then I never bothered to investigate it any further. |

| I've tired the Distortion Factory and it sounded good to my ears, but I will admit that I haven't tried the real versions of the Big Muff, Rat, or Overdrive 250. But what i heard sounded good and I do have to say it's a pretty flexable pedal. |

| I had the opportunity to have a lend of a Big muff. A real old one. If your after the "smoke on the water" tone? get it. other than that it was pretty inflexable in its settings. |

| I like the old MXR pedals. I use a Phase 90 sometimes and I always have a Micro-Amp between my FX and amp. |

The phase 90 is a really good phaser! I'll probably get one pretty soon and then i'll have both a 4 stage phaser and a 10 stage phaser (PH-2) to play with. I'm also going to talk to my techie friend to see if he can build me a Roland jet phaser clone. |
