Hi guitar gods!
I call thee to help me in a doubt that I have. I've come across the Line 6 Tone Core pedals and modules, but I've never try them, is there anyone here that knows them? Are they any good?
I started a topic last week or so asking how to make a particular swell sound and I think verbzilla cave or octo modes do it. I can't afford a new pedal so I've been searching and I found that it could be better to buy the docks and the modules separately rather than buying them together. Are they worse than the complete pedals? What do you think? Your help is really appreciated. thank you. |

Hey
I think Im in the same boat - I reallyy want to get a verbzilla too :D Octo and spring sound very nice. It looks very versatile. You can take the modules out and put them into other Tonecore pedals. You can pick up just the module on ebay for 35 new, but thats not the stompbox. I'd love to pick up a tonecore pedal cheap and buy the Verbzilla module for it. |

Howdy...don't have any of the tonecore pedals but i do have the PodXTPro,i think some of the Pods effects are in the tonecore pedals...i use the Pod only for the effects along with my regular Boss pedalboard..i've had a love/hate relationship with the line 6 stuff but i think i might of eventully found a way to get the best out of it...some of the old, rare effects pedals simulated in the pod are quite good..especially the delays and some of the reverb types, some of the modulation effects (my favs are the flanger, phase 90 and the tremolo is also not bad although i still keep my TR-2 on the board) the chorus sims aren't great IMHO,so i keep my CE-2 on my regular board as well...and even though i have an old analogue leslie sim unit, the pods version of a fender vibrotone cab is also not bad...for distortion/overdrive i think it's pretty crap..also the compressor sims are good especially the LA-2A sim.... but hi-gain stuff line 6 need to go back to the drawing board.....what i've found is the pod sounds great in stereo,i used to run it in mono but you lose a lot of the effect especially on the panning stuff and stereo delays and also when at thew other end it's coming out of a valve/tube amp..it seems to warm up the digital sound somehow....i use a tube overdrive pedal going in the front end for the hi-gain stuff so i suppose this helps take the digital sheen of it as well........ our singer is very picky about sound and wouldn't be backward about telling you if it sounded crap(at the moment there is a long running battle between him and the drummer over the sound of the drumkit) and he turned and complimented me on the last gig on the great sound i got out front during the soundcheck..... only took 4 years to get it sorted..... ....
PS... sorry for the essay but i thought you might like some insight with my experience with line 6 gear... not as easy to get the best out of as the boss stuff but can be good if you stick at it ... |

Hi Mansun
i have the Sapce Chorus.
It lives in it's box ....
Like Franzoni mentioned, the chorus is average/week. In mono the pedal isn't really that great - i stereo it's a bit better. i tried setting it up as the CE-2 modeling setting ---- it's ho Hum???
I went back to my beat-up CE-2.
I have kept it for the tonecore dock - mine is the stereo version.
Be aware - that there are Mono & Stereo versions of the dock.
If you rev-or-over volts one - it's fried - the Dock is full of a heap of SMD electronics. They are sensitive to incorrect voltages.
I have been interested in getting some of the other modules, to see if It changes my opinion of them. But the Modules seem to be be hard to find, & very expensive - here in Oz.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Thanks everyone, that was really useful.
I'm a bit confused though, as a new CE-5 and the Space Chorus costs THE SAME in Thomann, so I presumed they were good in a similar level. I can't compare it to the CE-2 as I think I won't ever be able to pick that one, and surely it would win over Space Chorus for KO.
Ok, so I won't buy the space chorus and will still be after a pretty decent CE-5. Anyway, I'm interested in the tap tempo function of their tremolo, which is quite nice, and in the verbzilla, so I could pick a stereo dock to try them both.
Any more comments? That would be nice. |

Might be of some use to you......
if the tremolo is anything like the one on the XTpro then it will sound pretty decent......and thats a lot coming from me as i like my modulation effects to be analogue... |

I got Constrictor, its very heavy pedal. U can replace the modul like in every of them. I like it, but its needs a specil daptor - the best is Line6 one - coz if not u will have lot of hum. As well u cannot use a daisy chain with it - needs separate ac/dc each...sad I like the compression of it and fact it is really solid - but never tried anything else rom serires. R u lookin 4 a good chorus? go for Exar cs04 chorus - its wicked :) |

I saw that youtube video and that's what made me interested hehe. The trem has to be better than my beh so I think I could give it a try. Since my band is not really into swells, I could use the dock from the verbzilla for the tremolo when playing with them. It's a shame Boss doesn't have the tap tempo function in the TR-2.
I use a HArley Benton powerplant DC and our other guitarist was surprised how silent it was for the price it costed (37 with cables and all that stuff), so maybe I won't have hum at all.
I'm not really sure about the EXAR... |
