Usual caveat - don't try this at home! Took about 12 hours start to finish including drilling and painting the box.
The extra board contains the input buffer, power management and 4.5V splitter. All that was originally done on the second board in the Chicken Salad (the one with the jacks and switch). No battery option because it sucks huge amounts of power even when bypassed.

That's cool. I love the boss 'small' knobs used. great choice.
I bet that was a looong 12 hours if you look closely at the quality!!!!

| So I assume the level and width controls are additions to the original circuit? |

Thanks all! It's not really that neat - it's a rat's nest! (but thanks anyway)
The "width" control is the trimpot moved outside the box (standard Chicken Salad mod), and I added the level control because it has a little bit of a boost if the 'width" control is wound all the way up. The level control is simply a 100kA pot on the output (similar to a Big Muff).
How does it sound? Really good actually. Takes a bit of fiddling becasuse the controls all interact (I see why they put the trimpot inside instead of user accessible), but once its tuned it's probably the best vibe I own.

Hi Laurie
Cool - Nice job. Interesting colour(color) choice.
I see you had to file the corners on the PCB, to clear-fit next to the posts inside the casting.
Regards Dr. Bob
Please check your PM. An epic reply. |

Yes indeed - it's in parallel with the lamp in the LDR box. |

Congrats Laurie!!Someday I will do about the same with mine, but I guess I have to get some days off before even thinking about it By the way, I like the sound of Chicen Salad better than the sound from the new Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe (I just sold mine...). |

When are you taking orders Laurie?
I love my Chicken Salad but it no longer works off batteries (and that's a real pain in the ass for me sometimes) and I hate the naff looking enclosure.
I haven't and probably never will have, the skills to achieve what you've done. That's a true professional job or, as we say here in the West Country of England - 'proper job'!
More than nice work. |
