Okay, first things first -- which version of the DD-3 do you have?

My servicing experience will only be with the "long chip" version, e.g. the DD-3 that most closely resembles the DD-2. Andreas might be able to help with the newer revisions...

| I'll chime in on the power supply issue as well. My dd-3 doesn't like the Zoom PS for some reason. Likes the PSA and LOVES the VS 1 Spot. |

I was getting exactly this problem with my DD-3 (v. 2b) The LED was on, but no delay effect. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. At the time I wondered if it was a loose connection somewhere as it still worked on occasion. It almost felt as if something had to 'heat up' before it worked (though I presume this is nonsense) because sometimes it would start working after sitting for a good while after switch-on.
I'll be testing this pedal sometime soon, and might need to look for which items on the board to test.
As a funny aside (or perhaps the root cause of the problem), after I bought this pedal secondhand I opened it up and there was a piece of foil on the outer surface of the PCB. It was actually a chewing gum wrapper! I don't know if the previous owner put it there for some reason (surely not, it's a conductor), for a joke (why..), or if it stuck to the board accidentally when they took it apart and it got in there unannounced. I wouldn't be surprised if it has shorted something out. |

I thought for ages that there was something wrong with my DD-3 as it always took a few moments to 'warm up' before I could switch it on but apparently this is normal with the early DD-3 and DD-5.
You have to give these ones a couple of seconds to 'boot-up' once you've applied the power. |
