Hey guys this is my first post on the forum but it wont be my last!

I am going to buy a BOSS Chorus pedal but i am not sure which one to get. What are the differences between the CH-1 Super Chorus and the CE-5 Chorus Ensemble? Also, which one would you guys recommend?

Cheers!

Go for the DC-3 or the CE-2. Those are my favourites. If you need to choose between the CE-5 and the CH-1, go for the CE-5.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It's hard to describe the differences but I'd say the CE-5 gives a fuller and more traditional chorus sound. The CH-1 is a little thinner and more shimmering. You should probably find somewhere to test them out before ordering.

And don't forget... CE-5 has two versions. Older ones are analogue and some say sound better (check the CE-5 page at Bossarea home).

Find a CE-2 on eBay and you won't be disappointed. IMHO the best, but as someone else said...try it first. Opinions are like sphincters, everyone has got one.

I always try pedals before i buy them for sure guys. I try them with guitars the same as mine in the shops.

I guess if i buy the CE-5 from the shops new it will be the digital version and not the analogue?

Yes, the design changed 2001 so the ones for sale today are all digital.

The thing is.. You got two different choices.

1: Become a collector and trust what we know about the pedals. All of us have bought pedals without trying them. I have tried 3 (that was actually from a guy in my town and I bought three pedals fom him. I went for the DC-3 which he had, and I got home with DC-3, DSD-2 and GE-7 mij).

2: Try one in a store and you will buy one, come home and feeling sad because you know that you actually wanted to buy an old pedal which could be the start of your collection..

CE5.

It'll probably stay with you forever!

I've had the older analog and newer digital version.
There's nowt between them to be honest... just hype.

But if you need to choose, don't go for the CH-1. That is actually the only pedal I really wanted to get rid of.

CE-1, CE-2, and the DC-2 are all great chorus pedals that defined the chorus sound. CE-5 is a decent chorus though among the newer ones.

The CE-2 is a forum favorite for its rich effect. If you ever find one for cheap in good shape, snatch that puppy! I sure wish I had one.

The CE-5 seems to enjoy a fair following due to its versatility. Its a bit better than the CH-1 but my ears are subjective. Both are in production so you be the judge.
