Yep. Nice. Picked mine up cheap at a pawn store.
Really designed to use in front of a SS amp to give tube warmth. Make sure the tubes are good ones... I tried some of my amp spares in mine and it sounded like poop. Good tubes = good tone.
There is an accurate video demo of it on youtube if you do a quick search.

Can I asked which brand of tube you ended up using? As you know, I have the EHx English Muff'n.
As to date, I have not swapped out the tubes, it was NOS when I found it. The English Muff'n use Low-to-Mid gain 12AT7 tubes.
What tubes does your EHx Tube EQ use?

Hi Mully FX
What I really meant to type, was NIB... New in Box, just missing the Power supply.
It's Friday & Late here. it's been a long hot week, with Temps in the high 30's & even one day of 40 Deg Celcius. With nights not much cooler.
But I/we count my lucky stars, that it's not -20F or -50F & snow. Like in some other parts of the world.

Tubes are 12AX7. Tried the old tired Marshall tubes from my JCM (probably the 10 year originals - they came out when I retubed when I bought it) and it worked, but was very dull.
Tubes that came with it are Sovteks. Look like they are new.

okay I finally got one (and got rid of it right away)
the sounds are superb - but there's a buzz type of noise going on - not totally bad... but I wanted an EQ that's dead quiet so this thing wasn't for me. |

Mike from Analogman emailed me a couple of years ago after an enquiry about the Bi-comprosser(i got the G.A.S. after reading Zestys review of it on the forum and that MK is supposed to have used an DA orange squeezer on the first Dire Straits album..)and said he would put my name on the waiting list...haven't heard anything since......strange...
the guy reviewing the compressors had some good things to say about the modded CS-3....i was going to pick up a second one and try the mods but people at the time were looking for ridiculous secondhand prices maybe it might be a good time to start looking again.... |
